Toyota is really biting the dust in recent year with problem reporting almost every month. My family and I are not loyal to any one brand but always considered Lexus on top of our shopping list because of impeccable service and overall most "bang for buck". Our LS and RX is not on the list but mostly 3.5 seems to be causing problem. 3.5 liter engine for Toyota suppose to be their best engine but it is nothing like the previous 3.3 or 3.0 with lot more engine noise.

problem is, that article doesn't list the years involved. so I guess it means all 350 engines and all 460 engines for those vehicles listed.

If I read the Bloomberg article correctly only the GS and IS 350's are involved. Both have direct injection. The RX and ES (as well as Toyota applications) do not have direct injection so not included??

Yeah, the loud piston rap or whatever the problem was with cold startups was one reason I got rid of my '09 RX and bought a '10 RX..
I just picked up an '11 Camry figuring the car should be solid because of all the previous recalls and bad press. We'll see.
Now the halt of HS sales and this latest recall will turnoff even more potential buyers.

That valve spring issue surfaced quite a while back on the new gen LS.

A couple of members in the LS forum were affected.

wait, what?

direct quote from the article

"The models with engines that may stall are the Lexus GS 350, GS 450h, GS 460, IS 350, LS 460, LS 600h and LS 600hL, and the Toyota Crown, the company said today. About 90,000 vehicles may be affected in Japan, Takeuchi said."

which would mean their Tahara plant has some serious issues.

Assembly sites by model

Tahara Toyota Motor Corp. Tahara, Aichi Prefecture LS, GS, IS, GX
Miyata Toyota Motor Kyushu, Inc. Miyawaka, Fukuoka Prefecture ES, HS, IS, RX
Motomachi Toyota Motor Corp. Toyota, Aichi Prefecture LFA
Higashi Fuji Kanto Auto Works, Ltd. Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture SC
Sanage Toyota Boshoku Corp. Toyota, Aichi Prefecture LX
Cambridge Toyota Canada, Inc. Cambridge, Ontario RX

This would really hurt Lexus as typical driver of Lexus is someone like my wife who can't tell the difference from SantaFe from RX with same color. She just wanted Lexus because it was "Lexus" so people like her will be afraid with all the problem being "newsed".

I don't think I've ever read about the 2010 RX having an engine problem on this forum.
