What is the deal with this thing? I get that it covers your items from prying eyes and the sun, but when you have to detach it what do you do with it? There doesn't seem to be any place it's meant to be stored nor does the manual say anything.
on my 2006 400h there is a neat place under the back cargo floor near the bumper designed just for storing this piece. Does this not exist on the 2010 due to the spare being inside?
ok but has anyone who has a 2010 RX figured out where it goes??
I searched under my cargo area and there is nothing. I looking under the rear seats- nothing. Thinking this is kind of odd since everything else is so well put together, but the tonneau cover is very long, doesn't fold, and seems to have no place to fit.

OK this isn't a scooby doo mystery. Put it in your house or garage when you aren't using it. There is no place to store it in the car.

Actually yes it is. :-P. But really that's weird, Lexus is usually on top of "fit and finish". Plus, I only thought there was a place cause I was told so by the person who sold it to me...tisk tisk
Auto-retracting tonneau cover. That's what some specs list it as. How does this work?
And I don't mean when you pull it, that it retracts. I read that when the door opens its supposed to retract.
Correct... it retracts when the door opens. If you don't want it to... push the levers down and that will lock it in place.
Always pays to be an educated consumer and not trust everything you hear coming from a salesperson working in an industry that has seen a massive decline and is worried about their job.
I always read up and test the salespeople. 9 times out of 10, I know more than they do about the car and it's features. As a marketer, frankly it pisses me off. When I set up a sales strategy... I make sure my reps know their stuff before they head in to talk to physicians/customers.
When looking at the car (twice) recently, I seem to recall that the cover in the '10 model did not seem to have the same little levers to set the cover to stay in place or retract when the back door is opened. I do recall it was different from my '04, but moved on to other things, because, after a few months of owning the car, I just put the cover in my garage and have not used it in years.
We need an owner to comment on this, or maybe someone can read through the on-line owner's manual.
