The third generation RX cover doesn't retract automatically. I miss that so much!

I don't miss the retracting cover at all. And I'm keeping mine.

Mine makes no noise whatsoever and I use it all the time. Since I haul tools around in the back I want to make sure no one sees them.

Maybe it's not installed correctly? What's a "not so smooth road"?

I'll try putting it back on today and see. I've installed it securely and it still makes a rattling noise when running over a speed bump or tiny potholes.

I have had luck eliminating the rattles using some damping material. I still found it gets in the way too much whenever i need cargo space. The sad piece of plastic had been sitting in a corner of my closet since and never saw daylight.

My tonneau cover rattled on bumpy roads also.

Fix: there is a tonneau extension attached to the rear door (yes, you do have it) and it requires four snap connections into the rear door hatch. 2 of the 4 were loose on my car and I just pushed the connectors in. Rattle GONE.

^Yeah but you have to have it pulled out and I don't want it to cover the whole time. I was thinking of installing it and keeping it rolled up until needed. But apparently that makes a lot of noise.
Didn't get the chance today as I forgot about it. Will do it tomorrow.

I was referring to the tonneau extension that is a separate piece attached to the rear door hatch. It is independent of the tonneau cover and remains even if the tonneau cover itself is removed. To see it, open the rear hatch as though you were to load groceries in the trunk; as you look up into the rear glass you'll see the extension at the lowest part of the glass. This was what was loose & rattling on my Rx 450h. Even when the tonneau cover itself was removed and in the garage, the extension part rattled. Hope this helps to clear it up a bit.

I took that piece out completely and reinstalled it. It snaps into place with a fair amount of force, but once in correctly it seemed to stop rattling.

Good luck.

Oh, ok. My extension is totally fine, it's the tonneau cover itself that makes a rattling noise on my part. I'll put it back on anytime this week, I just forgot where I put it, LOL.

Thank you, Hensta. You just answered a question I have been having for the last three weeks. My brother and his wife came in town three weeks ago, and I picked them up at the train station. They had quite a bit of luggage on them, as they were continuing on a trip a few days later out to Arizona. When we got to my house and I opened the power rear door, there was a loose piece of what looked to me like the tonneau cover down at the bottom of the luggage, but I thought that couldn't be, because my tonneau cover has been sitting in the garage for over a year, when I first bought the car.

I've looked at it and looked at it and was going to ask the dealer about it when I go in for my tire rotation. But you have now answered my question! It must have come undone by some part of the luggage pushing up against it. Thanks so much!!

Happy

This ones for you. Here a a couple pictures that might help you. The first is under the flap that you pull on. Just wondering if you have the felt on this area, it came from the factory this way.

Picture 2 is what I did to secure the Tonneau Cartridge in its place. I took one of those felt bumpers you use on cabinet doors and placed it in the corner as you can see. I did this on both sides. You have to push a little harder to 'click' it into place but it makes absolutely no noise.

I hope this helps you.
