Default 2013 RX450h MAF sensor location

Hi,

This is a bit embarrased to ask, but I am not able to locate the MAF sensor for my 2013 RX450h. The RX350 is easily located, as this sensor is typically right where the end of the air duct and the throtlle body meet.)

My car reaches 100K miles, and I thought I would carefully do a cleaning of the MAF sensor with the CRC MAF spray cleaner, 2-3 sprays.

Anyone with a picture of the MAF sensor location is appreciated. I've searched YouTube as well, but no luck.

Also, I watched this video.

Urgg...Pardon to have have done the OP on the wrong group and wrong subject line. Should be "RX450h" not "RX405h"!

I fixed your title and am surprised it is not in the same place on the hybrid.

You need to remove the windshield wiper motor link assembly, the cowl top ventilator louver sub assembly and the outer cowl top panel.

Then you will see it. Labor book rate to R&R MAF sensor is 1.4 hrs.

Best of luck!

Thank you VERY much! Holy molly! That's really involved for the RX450h! That's like almost doing spark plug changes!

I would not spray anything on your MAF sensor or attempt to clean it. It is very delicate and could be easily damaged during the process. Not worth the risk. Leave it be.

I did it for my 2007 RX350, whose MAF sensor is very accessible, and it's no problem. Car has been running fine.

Fair enough.

I still would not risk cleaning my MAF sensor, but if you can do it with success then have at it.

Normally I wouldn't trust any spray product, and, frankly, A LOT of car additive/cleaning products are created for the sake of making money more than help. But I would say the MAF sensor spray product that I bought has been out in the market for a long time, and, I would think they hear customers complaining if their product is a dud or harmful to the MAF sensors in millions of cars. They would be facing lawsuits.

2-3 sprays should be enough. Given this is so involved to remove the MAF sensor the for RX450h, I would wait to do it when spark plug change is done. AND absolutely I would NOT leave the throttle body uncleaned, when spark plugs are changed :-).

Thanks for the concern/warning.

What caused the need to clean your MAF sensor?

No need to clean. They are not dirty. You have got the engine air filter.

They are made of a material that dirt don’t stick to.
