Aftermarket Mud Flaps
The fronts are about a 5 minute job max. Just unbolt the 2 inner fender bolts and slide the flaps on - done! I was VERY impressed with the quality as I was expecting something kind of flimsy especially for the price. They match up to the OE's contours extremely well and look the part too. No waxy rubber smell either!
The rears are a little more involved but are still extremely straight-forward, it's pretty hard to mess up this job as the speed clips have lots of leeway. I chose to jack up the car and remove both rear wheels for some more working room. Now, line the flap up with the body where it sits flush with the bumper. Mark the three dots where you're going to drill while the piece is in place and then get your drill bits. I used a 1/8 bit for the initial hole, then stepped up to an 11/64.
After drilling the holes, pop the speed clips in place. Spread them open a little if it's too tight, this will also save the bumper from getting scratched. The hole should be centered with speed clip. If it isn't lined up very well, don't worry - the screw will cut through the plastic and center itself as you continue to tighten it down. These won't need a lot of force so don't go too crazy! There also shouldn't be a lot of resistance either.
Nice! Pretty rewarding for such a simple job. I would like to add that I was missing two speed clips for the install, but luckily I have lots of spares lying around and I found two matching ones that were identical to the kit's clips. Other than that little mishap, I am very pleased with the results.
Nice and flush! They're sturdy and their appearance of the plastic matches my RX perfectly! I'm very picky and I still wouldn't be able to tell these apart from OEM.
