Default 2004 RX330 automatic headlight leveling system warning light

I'm looking for some advice on how to fix this issue. I've spent a lot of time searching various forms with no luck. My automatic headlight leveling system warning light comes on from time to time. There is no AFS button on my 2004 RX330. Starting the car, the lights move up and down. The headlight leveler bar located in the rear by the passenger wheel is connected with no breakage. I don't have an heavy cargo in the back of the vehicle.

Please share any advice on what you believe the problem is. I was considering ordering 2004 Lexus RX330 Headlamp Leveling Module OEM 89960-48040 which is on ebay for $25 - $75.

Both types of the HID lights use the same sensor, located at the right rear wheel. Replacing that sensor should solve your issue. It's not a very hard job. You'll need a 10mm socket/wrench and a Philips head screwdriver. I found it easier to take off the nut holding the bracket to the sensor, versus trying to remove the one on the bar - it spun like a bad sway bar link. The trickiest part is making sure the sensor shaft is lined up to the curved notch on the bracket before you tighten down the nut/washer holding it on.

Another tip: be sure to use the correct size Philips screwdriver to get a good lock into the screws holding them to the bracket. One of mine was rusted and stripped out, and I ended up drilling out the plastic from the sensor to break it out. If you have the time to spare, maybe spray it with some PB Blaster or WD-40, and let it soak for a little bit before you attempt to remove the screws.

Is this the part?

Do you know the part number? Do you know where I can find any photos of the location.

Thanks!

That's the sensor. If you saw the rod connecting it to the control arm, just go straight up from there. Right side. There are 2 10mm bolts holding the bracket. When you're looking at it underneath, what you see in this picture is actually the backside. The only thing you'll see is the connecting arm and and the nut holding it to the sensor.

You may want to check the female connector to the sensor also, in my case some of the pins from the sensor & the female connector were rust dust.
If you need to replace the female connector, you can splice in a Toyota connector, more about that here:

Hey guys sorry to wake up an old thread. I'm confused on the part number mentioned on top of this thread89960-48040 has this is not the picture shown in the thread. The part number shown in the the pic 89405-48020..

I just wanted to understand which part number is the one that's required. My auto headlights headlights go up and down when I start the vehicle but then stay on the top position so the motor in the headlight works it's just the sensor that is supposedly in the back right passenger wheel that may be bad. What is the part number for this, and can someone show me a photo of where this location is for the spark? So that way I understand where it is and what it looks like. Thank you guys so much.
