My 2004 (purchased 2003) RX 330 got the recall letter last year and my dealer "put me off" planning to see if my headlights fell under the warranty when they replaced my cracked dashboard. I called numerous times in 2015 and the dash was never ready so nothing was done.

Well, my dash replacement finally came in last month and I was told the headlight warranty had expired! I escalated (denied) and escalated again. The squeaky wheel approach worked at my dealer was nice enough (along with Lexus corporate) to replace both headlights in April 2016.

Is this true the warranty expired? I have only owned the SUV for approx. 5 years it should be covered under the second warranty right?

It doesn't matter how long you have owned the car. The headlight secondary warranty is for 9 years from date of first use (as in the date it was sold new). See post 29:

DAMN! Unless im very lucky and the 05 i have wasnt bought until 08 im screwed. HID went out and most likely caused from the ballast. I want to reseal and replace the ballast my self but WI winter is already close. Does anybody have any possible recommendations as to what I should do? Being in college I got this car from a deceased grandmother and cannot afford dealer repair, any help here would be awesome!
