check the system
hi guys,
my rx seems to have developed a problem. The computer seems to be crashing and i get the message to 'check the system' on the screen. Audio turns off and i can't control anything on the screen.
restarting the engine boots the system up again, and it runs ok for a while and then back to the issue stated above..
do you think its a fuse issue? or loose wiring?

Does it start when you turn on the ignition?
Not sure if its related, but in my 400H, I received a message saying "Check Hybrid System." The radio etc would work but the car would not turn over. It turned out to be the ignition coils.

Electronics are very hard to diagnose some times on these vehicles. It sounds to me that you may be having an issue with either the Dash Screen unit itself, or the ECU which may be gettign too hot or have a short some where in the system.
Unless someone else has had this issue and posts, your best bet may be to take it to the dealership unfortunately. They've got the full gambit of diagnostic tools and they have the toyota certified scanners that can communicate with nearly every facet of the car's electronics.

so after a lot of frustration i decided to open the dash and have a look.
going in from the bottom up (gear off, audio unit and finally computer) i pulled out all the plugs into the computer system.
low and behold, i saw a crimped socket. i have no idea how it happened. i quick widening of the socket with a screw driver was all it needed. put everything back together and EVEERYTHING WORKS FINE!!!!
what a relief!
