Question 2005 rx330 question

Hi all
This is my first post at this great informative forums so a welcome message would be great
i own an 2005 rx330
first of all my sensors or parking sensors whatever they are called
the veichle got no auto parking assist
well they went down
no beeps at all
this happend after strange electrical issue
i wahed the engine bay and started right after fine .. got me home didn't bothered or checked the sensors actaully
how ever the car later didn't turn on
hooked it up to another car battery and reved the other car well still didn't wanted to start

lights on the dashbord most of them off and others are dimming just like there is a source eating up current
it turned up later to be a lossy battery terminal
another interesting thing to mention that there is currosion on the cables exterior
tighten it up and started up like a charm

time resetted and the navigation showed some thing like starting system and progress bar

even after tighting the battery terminals the car seems to be running with only support from the alternator if i opened the 4 windows / or closed them all together at the same time
the navi reboots and show lexus again ..

later tighten them up at a garage and he insists its because the terminals are lossy

from then i noticed that the sensors doesn't beep when i am closing to objective

my question is

the slidedown/up box near the stearing wheel where the electrical mirrors button
the another button right bellow that button

is that related to the sensors activitation?
should i leave it pressed or released?
when i press it a 1 second beep goes on
when i release it nothing sounds

so guys my question is
assume that i remove the battery terminals and left the car for half an hour to drain any remaining source of electricity

does the navigation system / radio / clock

require a passcode to function again ?

i don't care about presets in the radio or the time or any personal settings in the navigation

sorry i am not great at spacing

Thanks .

Welcome to the Club Lexus Forums. The engine bay of our Lexus vehicle should never be washed. Only use a cloth to wipe down engine covers, etc. Here is a link to other posts of Lexus owners messing up their vehicles by washing.

Removing the negative battery terminal for 30 minutes will reset the ECU, which might be helpful. You will need to reset all your windows, sunroof, etc. The instructions are in the manual. The navigation system does not require a password.

well it appears i am not the only one who may by any chance messed up with the engine

no engine parts where hurt during the washing process i guess

the parking sensors seems running fine i was just had them off by the button right under the electrical mirrors switch ( to be honest the button icon is misleading i thought it's something related to stability control vsc or tsc or whatever and i thought it's temporary didn'it noticed it's push / push again to release type)

so how does the parking sensors looks like ?
the round thingy right?
how should i clean them if any cleaning required
does dust / dirt trigger them ? or stop them from reporting obstacles ?

i readed somewhere something about clicky sensors

should they click when i listed to them closly ? does that mean they are working ? like if no one in the car to listen to the beeps can i just listen to each sensor closly and if it clicks it means its working ?

and the airbag sensors ? are airbag sensors hiden behind the bombers ?

Thanks again .

does that include the radio with the 6cds changer
seems to me that the radio and nav is 2 seperated units
the only linkage is when the volume lowers down with guided navigation speakers

can i just remove both negative and postive cables (i'll be carefull not to cause circuit short)

since i need to clean them up from currosion

what the cleaning process for cables /battery terminals ? hot water ? i don't have any electrical spray available..

Thanks once again

Don't use water, it could get inside the cable and cause even more mischief. Try to use a wire brush to score the inner surface of the connector. If you don't have a brush use any sharp object to scratch the surface. Do the same to the post and replace the connectors.

If the corrosion is very bad you might think about new cables as the corrosion can get under the cable covering as well.

Where do you live?

Cleaning corroded battery posts and clamps.
Scrub posts and clamps/connectors with a stiff brush and baking soda / warm water mix. The baking soda will neutralize any acid. When clean, dry them with paper towels and bursh with a brass or stainless steel brush. Reattach the cables and apply some NoOX grease to keep moisture and acid from entering the connection. Don't use a normal grease that could migrate into the connection.

Once reconnected, you will have some initializations to perform to the power windows, sunroof and tailgate.

Thanks for the answer

i live in kuwait and i am kuwaity citizen
does the radio needs and secret code after being reset?

sure man this was my first and last time using washing it
i am not giving care to the look of the engine at all but had the idea of washing it luckily nothing went wrong

it wasn't a corrosion in the begining
it was just like white powder
i had the car wash guy wash both the negative and postive after removing the plastic cover with water

wash not clean

the water was presured for sure with a special machine

1-3 days later it seemed to turn into corrosion
brownish colour for the positive terminal
i guess its on the outer not internal

well ? the cables are for sure made of copper?
i am talking about the cables not the terminals
does copper get corroded ?
or it get slight colour change with no hurt in connectivity or current

thanks , i'll try what you have suggested

noox is the brand name or model name ?
i'll try to find it
however is it only for electrical / electronic stuff or can be used as a normal grease for doors that
make sounds when opening / closing

i don't mind about the personal settings all i mind about is there any secret codes to enter into either the nav or radio
