Question Power Mirror Problem

I just bought a 2004 330 with only 36k miles and noticed that my right side rearview mirror does not move from side-to-side, up and down is fine. The left side mirror works side-to-side but is very slow. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

I donot know if this will help, try it,i tried on my car and worked,,try to move the mirror manually many times in different directions , gently ,so no damage can be done, then take the mirror all the way to one side so you can spray some lub oil that is safe on plastic, spray the back holder of the mirror generously, mobilize again and try the electrical way

Yes try manually moving it, carefully though. And then try the switch. Good luck.

Those things are pretty delicate inside. the hinge is a tiny piece of plastic. I would manually move it to the position you want and NEVER move it again.

yes, I agree with biff44. when those plastic parts inside break you have to replace the whole thing. Total bummer.

Mine was not either, Had the dealer fix it while they had it for the timing belt and water pump... I guess they figured I had paid enough ($900) so they did not charge me for the mirror or the window trim replacements. I do like my Toyota dealer, they seem to go above and beyond to keep good customer service.

Wait...They didn't charge you for 'window trim replacement'? I have the dreaded 'rear side moulding dropped off' problem and they tell me I have to buy the entire window. I'll try to get them to jiggle my mirror the next time I'm there. It doesn't more side-to-side either. Did you go to a Toyota dealer or a Lexus dealer? Maybe I should try a Toyota dealer if that worked for you. Thx.

This was at my Toyota dealer shortly after I purchased it from them. They were very helpful. BTW, I don't think they replaced the window trim. They used a adhesive to keep it from popping off. It has been over a year and the window trim is still holding nice a tight against the window.

I had a similar problem where the drivers side mirror would sometimes move down when you put it in reverse, and sometimes it wouldn't. The Lexus dealership here in Pittsburgh refused to address the problem until out of sheer frustration I delivered the TSB (see attached) to them and insisted that there was an issue and that they fix it. They finally did - dealing with that dealership was a serious hassle but I digress.
