In terms of just bluetooth handsfree without music, the standard rx system works fine with the exception of address book syncing which doesn't work with gen 4 iphone.
No you still need to pair with the inbuilt lexus bluetooth. Vais is just for audio.
Ah, I guess my question is the pairing between the Lexus BT and the iPhone 4 automatic?
My Kenwood has Parrot BT and auto connection is pretty hit and miss. Once paired it is superb, it downloads contacts without a problem and call clarity is excellent.
It's not a huge problem, I just wondered how it was with the iPhone and Lexus BT.
Has anyone done their own installation on one of these?
I have a 2007 RX 350 with Nav and I hate that there is no way (without using a cassette adapter) to use my iPhone 4 for music. This might be the answer. I just wonder if this is a diy or have it done professionally.

My 3GS pairs without any issue and is able to make calls just fine. However, the Lexus BT can't read contacts and transfers are not possible. Manual contact entry into the Lexus BT is necessary.

Yes to automatic pairing every time on my 4G iPhone. Like it has been mentioned, the contacts cannot be uploaded using the iPhone (atleast not easily). I used my BB to upload contacts.
Cheers
I installed the Dice mediabridge with Bluetooth. perfect wheel control integration and audio quality. can play ipod, USB mp3, aux and plus bluetooth playbach! so i can play any song in my iphone with the bluetooth ADP 2.0.
Though the order and text of media bridge is a little weird. everything else is great!
I was able to get my iphone linked once I found out the key was 1212 not 0000 like most of other BT headsets. This is as long as your Navi/Steering wheel has the BT built in.
Best BT I have ever had and I tell you I have had he best over the years.
Exasperated!! I have a 2004 RX330 w/o Nav & ML. I purchased the Mediabridge, had it professionally installed. It worked great or a couple of weeks, then problems since. My radio and CD changer started acting up with Error 3 and Error 4s, which added to the problem. I reset everything a bunch of times, but could never get back to full operation. The Audiovox Mediabridge people were helpful, but in the end told me to exchange the unit. The new unit does not work either, so I'm back to figuring out what's wrong with my radio.
I received a new cable for the mediabridge, I'll try swapping it out. If that doesn't work, any ideas?
