First decide what TYPE of car you want. Sedan, SUV, sporty car etc etc. For first car consider Honda Civic or other smaller 4 cylinder machines.

The RX is a great car but you're comparing apples to oranges. Not to stereotype but the RX is a luxury get around town "soccer mom" vehicle with 4WD added.

if you like the Pontiac G8 GT, then forget about the RX. You might want to look at the IS350 instead.

RX330 is great, I have an 350 which is like the 330 except with a larger engine. Driving is smooth, not as sporty as some smaller sedans, but feels very luxurious and "plush". Overall very comfortable. The interior is great, I love the 2010 interior, too bad I just bought a 2009 . But I got a great deal. If you are looking for a used RX 330 it's a good decision, it's cheaper than buying new, should be in the $10K - 18K range or lower and great reliability for Lexus in general. However, that does not mean you shouldn't get a mechanic to check it out or buy certified.

I am not sure what you want to know, but the RX330 is not a pontiac G8. If you are in the market for a use midsize SUV, the RX is a pretty safe choice. Of course everybody else knows the RX is a safe choice also, that is why a used RX is so expensive.
The RX330 is basically a people / cargo carrier, it is by no mean a fun car to drive. If what you are looking for is a used entry level luxury SUV, then the RX should be one of your considerations.

The RX is more midsized. Have you looked at a CRV or RAV4? My daughter loves her CRV.

If you want a luxury CRV you can always move up to the Accura RDX.

Zane818, seems to me you might want to test drive the RAV V6. It is as fast as the pontiac G8 and its cheap on insurance. It is consider a small SUV but it hold more cargo than the RX. It also handle better than the RX and much quicker than the RX from 0-60. What you will be giving up on is some luxury and sound insulation.

I have a 98 C-RV bought new and I can tell you it has been a great car but it is no Lexus, not even close. I only keep it to transport my dogs and loan to the kids when one needs it.
