Probably a non-hazardous coating...for use to prohibit bacteria build up, that's the cause of the odor....none to be concerned about. Otherwise they open themselves into serious litigation.
Lexus called me today and after they took a look at the pictures they are concerned. They have advised the service people to replace the a/c exchange
and heater motor and core if necessary. The parts are ordered and will be in
next Wed. My car will have to be overnight for them to have time to complete the repair. They have also asked me to give them a sample of the particles that are collecting on the dash.(and its not dry skin or dandruff geeezze)
Interesting developments - thanks for keeping us in the loop.
Personally, I found the particles to be very small. I didn't give much thought to breaking them down or investigating further. My guess is consistent with other thoughts - that this is simply mold-preventing coating residue that didn't stick. If I continue to see the particles after a few months - or if we get updated information that this is a product issue - I'll plan on pursuing further.
is lexus going to do the for a charge or for free? ... it bothers me enough to have it done ... but not enough to pay (i'm sure some very large amount) unless its a health concern
