how many times do i have to mention that in a car that costs as much as the RX any problem no matter how small should be resolved by lexus and not "blown" off excuse the pun. if you think its bad now look at it thru polarized lenses.

I was at Lexus dealer yesterday and the service manager and he said he had
called Lexus again and asked if he could change the interior exchanger and they advised him that it would not solve the problem and not to do it.

I will wait to see what they come up with.

It help if others are having this problem to report it to the dealer.

Will keep you informed.

Exclamation Same problem here - 2007 RX

I've got that same dust and it's actually been bother me as to where it has been coming from. I clean it up at least once a week and always thought it was just something from the local air getting in when I open and close the doors. Glad to hear there is a source - my vehicle. My biggest concern now would be is this stuff healthy - I'm certain I'm breathing in a good deal of it while driving (I never drive with my windows open, too noise - and the car always has its AC running when in the auto mode).

The next time I take my RX in for service I'll see if there is any information available from my dealer - and I'll keep an eye on here to see if anyone else has information.

Wow, that's totally weird. I've had very good luck with my RX's a/c (knocking very hard on wood, 'cause my '01 IS was hell)!

I noticed the particles too, driving east into the bright sun on Saturday. I get a lot of dust in my neck of the woods anyway, so I'm not too concerned. I detailed the interior yesterday and used Poorboy's Natural Look on the dash. I suspect this will make the dust even easier to remove.

Like others I've heard of this in the past and I probably even experienced it. I just didn't notice since this is the first dark colored dashboard I've had. That said, my wife's ES doesn't seem to have the same issue.

What is Poorboy's Natural Look? Where do you buy them? Are they better than AS 303 protectant?

Poorboy's NL and AS 303 Protectant are very similar. I've got both on the shelf. I tend to lean toward NL because the scent is more pleasant and it's a bit easier to apply a light, even coat. You can't go wrong with either one, though.

http://www.poorboysworld.com is the direct source - Steve is a great guy. The SSR series is some of the most consistent and easy-to-use polishing products you can find as well. Many other 'boutique' vendors carry the line as well.

If it is the coating they put in the heater/air conditioner unit on the dash, wouldnt the cabin filter filter it out?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Nope. The air get pulled from the return and forced fed to the Evaporator, hence the gunk gets into the cabin. When you have fresh air, does the same thing...fresh air instead of return air.

But the discharge air still goes thru the cabin filter.

The fan is after the Cabin Filter (sucking air through the filter, it is never blowing air through). The air going to the Cabin comes from the evaporator.

Do you have an idea of what this material is and if it is harmful to breathe?
