wow those pics are really bad. at first i thought it was just excessive (but normal) dust, but that is definitely not a normal condition. mine doesn't even look like that after 3 months of not washing, and i have black interior as well (so you can see all the lovely dust).

good luck w/ the repairs, hope it all works out for ya.

I agree...great to hear your dealer recognized the problem and is addressing it. The particles I saw were similar, but there were far fewer of them. And they seemed to have cleared out after a few weeks of ownership.

Question: Do the dealers review the TSB's issued through the years?

Or they play the dumb game....

The TSb's explicitly say...warranty or no warranty...if the Customer complains about it...it will be covered, if it is under warranty. In this case, there is no TSB, means it is one of those rare issues. Good that the dealerrrr-Lexus has owned up to it. Points for Lexus!

That's a good question. If service departments answered honestly - regardless of brand - I have to bet 'play dumb' would be the clear winner. Nonetheless, that's one really awesome benefit of forums...the internet puts the power in our hands. With previous cars - Toyota, GMC, and Acura - I've actually taken copies of the TSB with me to service appointments. In each case it made the process go much more smoothly.

Judging only on a few routine visits to my local Lexus dealer, I get the sense that their desire is to solve a problem first and assign payment terms second - definitely one reason we bought a second car there this year.

I will bring in copies of the TSB's just in case. Yes, you are right, they do take down notes of your complaint, and that's all they want, and then they say...anything else?

Update!!!

Well Lexus had my car for 2 1/2 days and they found that the dust was coming from the a/c exchange unit. They were able to collect a lot of dust once they got into the a/c vents. They replaced the a/c exchange, detailed my car and I am back on the road.

I will be taking a 3 day trip starting tomorrow so will be able to monitor if there is any more dust or not.

I will report on Monday after the trip to see if its good, bad or ugly

The replacement was covered by warranty.

Glad to hear that you finally got it fixed. You must feel good about not having to wear your dust mask/respirator on your trip!

Great news! Good luck! I am pretty sure your case will end up in the folder that says....NEW ISSUE, if it does not end up on....ANOTHER DUST CASE.

passnu2

did you take a look at the pictures on the link I posted?

anyway just to let everyone know looks like they got the job done right
I was out on a trip for 3 days and no more white stuff.

Whewwww glad its over.

They did a good job to, no rattles or anything...they did tell me they put the rattle insulation in while it was apart to help insure there wouldn't be any.

A happy Lexus of Calgary customer..
they sure do give GREAT customer service there.
