Certified is when the say, trust me, car is good, I checked it, now pay more money....warranty is the same, they just add months to it. So, they say, instead of you buying a used Lexus elsewhere, dump your money here and I will treat you a bit better when you make a claim...isn't that something?
In used market the vehcile is still covered under base warranty unless the miles and time form first purchase run out.
AS IS ; says it all
Certified: dealer mechanic has checked n things and found nothing wrong or fixed all the things that were checked. Vehicle is AS IS.
Extended Warranty: The dealer is providing the buyer an extened warranty (cost of warranty is built in the sales price). Need to check which company is providing extended warranty and what is not covered.
In all of the three cases, cosmetic [dents, scratches, tears, rips, broken/cracked plastic/glass etc] are not covered unless you get each item in writing.
At the end, "good faith" and "good business practices" prevail. This is how companies earn their reputation.

Another experince in life, which did not end too well.
You can be sour about it, or take it as a learning and move on, and enjoy your ride. Dont let your RX remind you of the poor treatment.
One of the good things about the Forum is it makes other readers learn form other poople learning.
I dont know how much the dealer made on your vehicle, but they would have been more amiable, if their profit margin was more. So may be and really maybe you got a good deal at the end.
