Plug in the trunk area
I just noticed the plug the other day. What have you used yours for? Will it run a playstation? I have the Rear Entertainment. I love all the gadgets on this car.
Yes, that's what it was designed for, the A/V connections feed the PS's signal to the RSES. I've used it with a small VCR/TV (Video Walkman) to watch a ball game out in the boonies.
I regularly connect my laptop and accessory battery chargers to this port through a power strip. It's handy to be able to charge the big L-ion batteries for my broadcast camera running between locations. I did the same thing with a Radio Shack inverter plugged into the 12V port in the cargo area of my RX 300 . . . even ran a small, noisy, and relatively ineffective "electronic" refrigerator too.
Just be sure not to overload the inverter. The built-in unit on the RX 330 is supposed to be rated to 150w. (Consider carrying a spare fuse or two . . .

I think it was only on vehicles equipped with the Rear Seat Entertainment System (DVD player). If you don't have one, you can pick up a voltage inverter at Radio Shack or an electronics shop for $50 - $500. You don't want to go much below $50 - those things mounted on the back of the lighter plug are just too cheap. The big high-wattage jobs require special wiring. Look for an inverter that will handle 100-150watts and produce a sine-wave output (look for something that will operate a TV - they are pretty frequency sensitive). If you have the budget, other nice features (not available on the OEM inverter) are internal circuit breakers (prevents blowing your car fuse) and best yet, automatic shut-down as battery voltage falls (keeps you from draining your battery).

If you are just going to be charging a battery, one of the lesser products is OK, but if you wish to run a TV, computer, or video game, you might want to opt for a better quality product. It's critical to know the MAXIMUM current requirements for all the devices you intend to hook up at once.
While I'm not often a fan of RS, they have a great advantage in that there is one on practically every street corner in America. Warranty service or replacement is available almost everywhere you travel, so an on-road failure is not a disaster.
