Direct iPod Connection Solution
While searching for an iPod connection kit for one of my other vehicles, I came across this product, which, in the description, makes it seem as if it offers a dedicated link into the radio. Has anyone had experience with this product, and if so how well does it work, not work? If this works, it may be what we have all been searching for.

I emailed the company that makes this product and was informed that it plugs into the back of the head unit and that there would be no loss in quality of sound. I am still perplexed as to what it plugs into in the back of the head unit, and how it emulates a CD changer and still retain the in-dash one??

Lexus would look into at least add this option on the next model.

What would it take to wire up an Ipod or some other MP3 player such that it could use the "TAPE" input? I never use the cassette in my RX330 and the output of an Ipod type device should closely match the output of and thus be a good candidate for swapping with the TAPE input.
No, I have not tried one of these devices, however, I am very close to ordering one. Before I made the purchase I wanted to see if someone on this forum had tested this set-up and maybe could post his/her results.

I just bought a Sony cassette adapter so I can use my iPod in my RX300. Frankly, the sound is better than I expected...and it gives me an opportunity to finally use the cassette player
I tried one of the wireless FM adapters & it SUCKED. Glad that I found a solution.

I had my GX470 wired with a similar device so I assume it would work the same on a 330. The technician installed a tiny switch in the glove compartment. When set to CD mode, the switch controls whether I am listening to the CD player or the iPod. The sound is great and far superior to my experience with either the cassette or FM adapters. Works with my mini too as you would expect. Not sure if this is the same "adapter" as in the first post but I am very very happy with it and will be installing in my SC as soon as possible. Don't know if it could work on "tape" setting instead. I can put you in touch with the guy that did mine (New Jersey) if you want info let me know.
Total cost including installation was $125 ( I believe that was "dealer cost" - dealer "subbed" out but did not mark up....I paid "sub" directly)
Good luck

Knicksfan,
I would love any additional information about the product that was installed in your GX. Do you have the paper work listing the name of the product? Or if it would be easier for you, I could contact your installer/dealer directly.
Thanks again
