2009 rx 350 constantly flashing
Default Tpms light flashing fast-nonstop-helpHello, I recently bought 4 new tires for 2009 lexus rx 350, 2 of the sensors were read as bad, therefore, I replaced all 5 at the same time. This is where the trouble started. I bought the tires and sensors at costco. They did not install the sensors correctly; I had a blinking tpms then a solid tpms on dash. I took it back to Costco and they could not get the tpms to work. The costco employee tried to say it was my car and its old. (insert eye roll) I took the car to a different mechanic and asked him to see if he could fix the tpms malfunction. NOTE- the sensors installed from Costco are REDI-sensors 7007hp, The new mechanic said his tool couldn't read the sensors, but he could see they were there. Well, after that mechanic was done with it, the TPMS light is flashing very very fast nonstop. Took it to a 3rd shop, this mechanic said he was confident he could fix the situation. He said each sensor IDS had to be individually entered. Car was there 5 hours, and he said he ran out of time and couldn't fix it completely but to bring it back. Third mechanic said he got the IDs installed and his tool could see the tires and pressure, but he wasn't able to stop the CONSTANT FAST BLINKING until he had more time to troubleshoot. I am supposed to bring it back (he didn't charge me yet) but now I don't know if he can truly fix it. I don't know what to do. Third mechanic said he's never seen a TPMS light flash so fast like that. I think the second mechanic did something to make the situation worse. I'm so frustrated, I just want the CONSTANT FLASHING TO STOP.
I read on here, I could do a hard reset by disconnecting the positive battery cable for 30 minutes to clear the vehicles memory and see if light resets???? Im afraid to do anything and Im afraid of more time wasted at the 3rd mechanic to find he cant fix it and also charge me for the time. What should I do???

Curious what the fix was. My TPMS indicator (not flashing) has been on since BJs (Sams Club) replaced the tires 3 years ago. New sensors they put on were tested, changed out, etc., but the TPMS issue remained. Got new tires a couple months ago and refused to use their TPMS sensors. Asked them for the specific model they wanted (7007HP). Bought them off Amazon and had them installed with the new Michelins. As they were trying to synch the new TPMS with the 2009 RX350 computer, the mechanic said there was a problem. His device could only synch with Lexus from a couple years ago (2023 and 2024). I thought that was crazy. He recommended going to a dealer which I've been procrastinating on for a bit. So very curious if your mechanic had a better device to do the matching or had a different fix?
Separate Issue: Probably need to start a new thread but this is key for Michelin Tire consumers. I've had a second set of Michelin tires ($1,000) replaced by Michelin (no cost to me) due to tires not lasting thru the warranty. The first set of tires made it to about 32k? out of 60k? warranty. This second set only made it to 21k out of the 55k warranty. I was shocked when my regular mechanic said I needed new tires soon. Obviously VERY pleased with Michelin honoring the warrant (twice!!!) and will never purchase other non-Michelin tires for my Lexus. But curious what you guys are finding. Are tire manufacturers creating tires today that have no chance of reaching their guaranteed warranty? Lesson Learned: Buy Michelin and keep great records - including registering the tires on the Michelin site.

I wasnt able to get my 2008 rx350 (Japan build) out of the tpms test mode. I ended up replacing the tpms with a used part, from eBay. The Lexus dealer quoted me 1800.00 to replace this ECU as well as replacing all five sensors. I could have saved some by replacing only the bad sensors, but it wasnt that much less.
I know what a nightmare this specific vehicle can be in regards to the tpms monitor system. In years past, I have had several large tire chains, and a Sam's club fail to fix a sensor. Only the Lexus dealer was able to deal with it. That's fine, but it was expensive.
Against my better judgement, I bought five Autel sensors and an Autel 508 ws programmer. Discount tire was cool enough to install the sensors for me. I replaced all five and hoped for the best. The sensors I bought were the MX labeled as either 315mhz, or 430mhz
The tpms computer was easy to install as long as you don't mind working left handed, and upside down. I disconnected the battery and changed this ECU. Once it was installed, I plugged the 508 into the obd port. In a few seconds it gave me the ID numbers for the five sensors. At that point I was able to clone each new Autel sensor even though they were installed. I had to disable a feature in the 508 that let it program with pressure on it, but that was simple and easy.
When I was done, the light was still flashing. I wanted to cry. I was long past the anger stage. I had worked through the stages of grief. Crying was all that was left. At that point I remembered the tpms reset procedure. In the past this procedure rarely worked. When it did, it took forever to complete.
I damn near dropped dead when the light went out. It really worked.
I don't post here as often as I should, but if you guys are fighting tpms issues, this little tool is worth its weight in gold.
Owning it isn't that bad. I can use it to check tire pressure in my 2021 Corolla as well. The car will only display actual pressures if I subscribe to the Toyota app and I'm not paying them a monthly fee for that.
