Power window
My drivers window has been playing up recently, didn't always do as it was told. Would always go down but would often drop a few inches when i tried to put it back up. Wouldn't go back up unless it was all the way down and i played with the switch for a min or two.
now it just wont come back up atoll.
What do i need to be trying first??

When you tried to raise the window, where it goes to the top and then opens again by itself (seemingly of a mind of its own), were you using the Manual Close action of the window switch or is with the Auto Close function? I ask because if Auto Close is being used and this happens, this means that the window motor Pinch Protection may needs to be reset.

HI, it does the same on either the auto or not. Window could be half way down when i try to put it up and it just drops by a few inches each time.
Actually went up this morning after a few tries when i left for work?? Tried for about an hour the previous evening. WAs thinking the window motor is ok but perhaps the switch is at fault?
How would i go about resetting the anti pinch feature?
Thanks

Pinch Protection is specific to the Auto Close function. So if you are experiencing this behavior on both Auto and Manual Close, it may not be Pinch protection that is causing the issue.
There is a way to reset it, but from what I understand it is a very complicated procedure, involve pull out door leather cover, removing the motor / regulator combo and then separate them. You can easily see these procedures on places like YouTube if you get a chance to look it up.
The higher chance possibility, to explain this strange behavior: the Relay in the actual Window Switch is possibly going bad. Compared to the above, replacing the window switch is very easy, and of course, if it is indeed failed, it is the only piece that you need to change. (Had the same happen to me, on the Front Passenger window) Just gently pry with a flat screw driver from the top of the switch up, slowly lift, and disconnect the wires plug from bottom (Can easily do so within 3 minutes).
If you left it disconnected for a few minutes with no key inside ignition, then connected it back and put the key on, the window should start working again (temporary).
You can try to find a replacement either online or from any local auto wrecker. If you know someone with the same vehicle (1999-2003, any year) you might move the switches temporary between vehicles (mark the one from your car on the bottom, so you don't mix them on accident
) just you see if the problem get resolved or is still there. I highly recommend you try this first, before going to tear the door completely apart
