Default Automatic light - how to change time?

Hi,

got "auto" lights with DLR function on my RX300 (03).
How do I change when they turn off after I shut down the engine?
I read in the instruction that it is possible to change - it says to contact Lexus dealer.
Since my car is quite old I'd like to know if I can do it myself?

Ideally they would shut down with the engine.

Regards,
galtom

You need to change the C-Best settings. However, I don't believe there is an option to make them turn off with the engine. I think the soonest they can turn off is 15 seconds.

As the manual states it can be done at the dealer. Your other option is to purchase a toyota techstream OBDII connecter from Amazon with software (around $25), and then you can change the settings yourself among many other things.

Listing options that may or may not satisfy the OP

1, Do not set to auto.
2. Use the remote to "lock' 'lock' [2 successive lock ... you have to step out ]

Thanks Mate!.
What other settings would I be able to change/access? - perhaps it would make sense to get it...

1.? But it is useful - why not use it if I have it?
2. I know, but it is not very comfortable. Got kid and quite often stuff to take out from boot. That means by the time I can lock, lock lights shut down anyway.
However there is no point for them to stay up. This is why I'd like to change this time to as short as possible.

I had an inkling that my answer will not make you happy, so I did put a disclaimer at the top.

Nothing is perfect for everyone.

The base purpose of the delayed off was to allow the owner to step out in the dark area and make use of the RX light (give people enough time to unlock and get in to the dark house]
Personally I find it useless [I do not set it at auto]. If we start sampling owners, we will find folks like you who want auto turn on but inst off. Then there will be folks who say the turn off time is not long enough.

I am not a spokesperson for Lexus, but it seems they have given enough options to satisfy most people.

Tell us how you feel about lights turn on before start (as you have them in auto)?

Take a look at post number 35 and the attached text file for more CBest settings: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...tml#post403505 According to that 30 seconds is the lowest setting, not 15 seconds as I previously stated.

The TechStream software also allows you to read/reset CEL's and look at real-time data. Doing a quick Google Search will reveal more information.

Yes, it can be done if you have Techstream with Mini-VCI. I did it for my RX300, whenever the engine is shut off, the light is off. The customize options are : off,30,60,90 secs. Just choose the "off" option.

All is sorted.
I have to say I am very pleased with my local dealer (http://lexus-katowice.pl/).
They did not charge me anything and now my lights turn off as soon as I open drivers door.
I am very happy! :-)

Glad it worked out.

I am generally impressed by the flexibility the Lexus engineers have built in the machine ... yes there are misses too, but not as many.
