heater problem
Hello, new here, I have 2001 rx300. My problem is that I only get heat if I turn the temp to hot. Is this something that I can fix. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Ok, so I took out the glovebox and worked the temp control from hot then down to 85, and I can hear the flap open to the heater and when I turn to 85, it closes again. It sounds like it is moving hard. Now my question is, where is that flap that modulates the air flow from the heater box. Also, the air flow is a bit less once the flow from the heater comes through and yes it is hot. Felt the tubes coming in and they are hot. Is this something I can do, I have worked on many cars so that is not a problem. Thanks for any help.

You have a mode and mix servos. They work in unison through the Auto climate control.
The mix servo controls heat/cold functions of the heat-exchanger unit.
The mode servo then helps redirect the conditioned air.
When you set to heat (temp above ambient) the mode servo redirects the air to feet level.
You can byepass the Auto by disengaging it and manually control the mode through the mode ****.
Also do check the coolant level through the radiator pressure cap with engine cold. Lexus is finicky about coolant level and heat.
