Default Air Conditioning / heating problem.

So, I have a problem but it is kinda hard to explain. So I'll use a picture. Everything that is in red is all the way hot. Everything in blue is all the way cold. There is no middle ground, or warm position. Has anyone else had this problem?

i've not had this problem but i'm going to ask some further questions that came to mind immediately:

1. is this something you notice as soon as you turn your car on? or after your car has been on for a while?
2. are the 'all the way hot' and 'all the way cold' regions always the same?
3. (along similar lines) because its climate control not 'temp of air coming thru the vents' control are you sure your car isnt just trying to make the car a 'hotter' or 'colder' temperature - ie. have you tried this over a time greater than say 5min?

just trying to get clarification so that perhaps some1 can look and say 'oh the problem is this'

I will reply in order.
1. Yes it is all the time. Obviously if it is hot outside then it takes a while for it to cool all the way off.
2. Yes they are always the same as far as I can tell. I haven't ever put a thermometer in there but it feels the same.
3. Yes it stays the same. Example, driving to vegas in the winter, car was damn hot all the time. I had to keep shutting off the blower to let it cool down inside.

Thank You.

Sounds like either the dial itself or more likely the inside temerature sensor maybe? Does it happen when you have it on Auto and Lo/Med/Hi?

Ya it happens on all of the blower settings. I have been thinking that it may be the inside sensor also. Do you know of a diy or of anyone who has changed one? I wonder how hard it will be to do :S

Hey man I had the EXACT same problem you are describing and after some troubleshooting I found that my interior air temp sensor had a bad connection. I priced one at lexus and it's only 34 bucks even if yours is bad. The sensor is located on the driver side lower dash/steering colum cover. Easy fix once you know where to go....good luck.
