Default Fail State Inspection :(

Today, I took my RX300 for the State inspection, it failed 2 items on the list to be replace so it can pass the inspection I have 15 days to bring it back . 1. the wipers and 2. a small Corner bulb on the front head light. The inspector wants to charge $85 to replaces both.

Wipers not a problem to replace but I been looking thru the front head light open the hood but did not see how I get to the corner to replace that little bulb? do I have to replace the whole head light? please advice!

Thank you!

I replaced that bulb on my 99 RX recently and recall that it was fairly easy. Car is not here right now or I would go out, look, and describe what is required; perhaps later.

I suspect you mean the high corner fog light. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ight-bulb.html
If so, I believe you need peel back the wheel liner and reach up to it. I need to replace both of mine too. The bulb you need is 9006.

I should have done it last month when i had already pulled the wheel liner back to access the bulbs in the side marker, but I didn't realize that the high fog light bulbs were burnt out till after.

Yes, Hypervish is correct. You don't need to put the car up on stands or remove the wheel, but you do have to remove the bolts and screws that secure in place the front portion of the fender liner. Bend it back gently (its flexible plastic) and reach up to where the bulb housing is. Turn it, pull it out, and you then gain access to the bulb.

got it thanks! it was like you said Jab, couples screws peel the inner liner off the fender and reach in to access to the fog light bulb. It takes me half an hour so now I know how to do it. Thank you very much! Now bring back the car for re-inspect. Replace windshield Wipers and fog light bulb, save me some $$ on DIY!

Glad it worked out. Let me know if you have any further problems; I've had my RX for 14 years and have encountered most of the common ones.
