Default HELP! Code 1354 VVT system fault

OK, I got this code 1354, the engine was running very rough. Then it gave codes 0300, 0302, 0304 and 0306. I know all 3 ignition coils didn't go out at the same time so I figure the timing fault is causing the 3 cylinders to misfire. How do you fix this variable valve timing system fault? Is is something in the computer? I'm thinking this may be causing the misfires, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks,
Barry

Could possibly be your front Oil Control Valve.

There is a illustration here:

Try the search function, It can help sometimes to gather more info. There's a lot here.

I replaced the Camshaft Position Sensor and so far so good......runs like it used to! That makes sense because I was getting misfires on that bank. Thanks!!

UPDATE.....it started idling rough so I scanned it again and got the same 1354 code! It seems to run good until I have to stop at a light or something. I'm going to pull the OCV next, clean or replace it then see if that does the trick. I thought I had it fixed......oh well, anymore suggestions?

Default testing an OCV

I read in another thread on how to check an OCV. The ohms settled in at around 7.5 and when I energized the OCV, the cylinder moved back and forth. Can anyone tell me if this is a sure fire way of testing because I still get the same codes, 1354, 302, 304, and 306. You think I should replace it anyway? Whats another $100 at this point? LOL

Thanks guys.........

I just dealt with the same situation. Turned out that my VVT Solenoid was malfunctioning. I had it replaced and runs like a dream again. Hope this helps!

Where is the vvt solenoid located? I checked for sludge and there is none. I checked the ocv and it's clean as a whistle. Once I clear the code, the car drives perfectly. As soon as the MIL lights up, it starts running really rough and misfiring. I'm sorta confused because I feel like if I have this vvt problem, wouldn't misfiring occur all the time? I haven't ruled out the ECM.

sounds like the OCV valve is intermitant....replace it and also check the ocv valve filter.

Default my solution

If anyone is interested, I first replaced the cam sensor, that wasn't the problem. But, as soon as I replaced the Oil Control Valve, it hasn't missed a lick since. My old OCV was clean and when energized it did as it was supposed to but since it was intermittent problem I guess I tested it at a good time. The only thing I could not do was check the OCV filter. I'm not sure where that is located. Hope this helps! Thanks to everyone that offered advice.
