Default cel code p1349......../ HELP!!

A few weeks ago I ahd all 6 misfire codes along with code p1349. I changed my spark plugs and wires and cel went away and car idled and ran smoother (sometimes), when it wasnt running smooth it would misfire or hesitate on a somewhat hard takeoff and (what it seemed like) 4th gear. My cel wouldnt come back on for over 200 miles and just came back on yesterday (never been so happy to see the cel on lol) with the code p1349. Ive researched this code and alot of you (cl members) say oil control valve or filter or a slipped or stretched timing belt. Well i check my ocv filter and it is in good shape and clean. And my timing belt was just replaced less than 30,000 miles ago. My question is: if my t belt had jumped a tooth or slipped wouldnt it have done so in the first few miles of installation and/or showed then, and the 2nd question is will the ocv look fine when it in fact is not working properly and lastly is there anything else related to this p1349 code. Sorry for the long post, and thanks for your help!!

p1349=VVT not working. 1st change your oil and filter. 2nd check the condition of the OCV filter and oil pipe. 3rd check if the actual OCV is working. 4th check ignition timing using timing gun. 5th check timing marks. if after you have checked all the above and problem still exist, VVT controller assembly or ECU-rarely unless someone was messing around with the VVTi intake cam pulley bolts when changing out the cam seal. I would try each step one at a time and hopefully problem goes away.

thanks for the input ashburn... I changed the oil and filter recenetly, i checked the ocv filter and it was clear and clean (didnt check the pipe) and the guy that did my plugs and wires sid he checked the ocv by testing it with a battery and passed the test with flying colors. So, i guess all thats left is to check the timing marks. At this point I may just have to bite the bullet and bring my baby in to toyota and let them diagnose and fix it

UPDATE...... took the car into toyota this morning and they called me up and dignosed the problem as.......... oil contol valve!! I am surprised and relieved at the same time. Relieved because its "only" the oil control valve, and surprised because my last mechanic said he did a "resistance" test (or some **** like that) on my ocv and it passed with flying colors. Anyhow, I will be glad to get my baby back. To anyone who gets the p1349 code, please change your ocv first!!

Can anyone tell me if they had to reset the CEL? And if so how did u reset it? Or did the light go away immediately after you replaced it?

Some CEL's will clear themselves when you fix the relevant issue. Others require a simple OBD scan tool to clear.

Which side did you change? Driver side or passenger? I'm having the same issue and I might have replaced the wrong side, lol!
