Default 2002 rx muffler

Are there any aftermarket performance mufflers that will fit with no modifications, like a borla or flowmaster type, just the muffler???

There are a few, the Rod Millen (that's no longer made) one comes to mind, there's a few others but often they come under the Solara or Camry heading but they should bolt up. I'd have to look these up though I know on www.solaraguy.com there's often discussion of this (it's roughly the same exhaust setup).

i'de love to put a muffler on. but how much of a difference does it really make as far as making it sound better. i know there will be no performance gain. but i would like to have a nicer sounding car.

Oh there indeed can be performance gain but it's the exhaust tips that are the ones that have no real performance gain. As far as sound I generally favor oval mufflers. I have to see if I can show some examples later today.

I'm going to have to revisit this on the weekend, I've got work galore right now.

I have to do research personally on this, because I intend to dump the big indirect BMW muffler my uncle put on there before leaving Mexico. We were worried that we'd run into noise issues at sea level with the way my vehicle was, but I can tell you having heard other vehicles around here, I see no reason to why I can't go back to a different direct flow muffler.
