Default PWR button?

no problems i'm just curious since i had this car for 3 years now and i've only now really got bored while driving home and pressed the power button. didn't feel much of anything change what so ever what does the pwr button actually do? is it there simply for esthetic purposes?

i love hatchbacks in general but i cannot pull off 33+ thousand bucks as a college kid for a new car. i'm trying to go 05 and up. but with this economy i honestly have no idea whats happening anymore.
