Default fuel filter replacement

does anyone know how to replace the fuel filter on a 2001 rx 300? i read somewhere that you can access from under rear seat. I pulled seat and do not see a panel.

I agree. Even my dealer doesn't recommend replacement, and I know they would suggest it if needed.

I'm not sure, but I believe the filter is INSIDE the tank, so you need to further access into the tank to get to the filter. Even then, I think it's more a mesh filter than an actual encased filter.

i believe it is part of the fuel pump. I think you drop the fuel tank, pull the pump, tear it apart and replace the filter. My son (16) has started driving the car and always runs the gas down to nothing. The car won't ideal now so i figure he has fouled the filter.

Clean the IAC valve first. If you still think it's the filter, get a gauge on it to see what the pressure is.

Good advice to check the fuel pump. Filter restriction is better measured by checking the flow.

Sorry, I don't have the specs on pressure or the flow.

Remove driver’s side rear seat. Remove carpet and cover plate on floor panel for access to the fuel pump lid if you must clean or replace the filter.
It is tedious to do but has to be done carefully as you would not want to repeat the process immediately.
Remember to disconnect battery terminal before opening the fuel pump.

I would clean that IACV first as suggested. It's a lot easier then messing with your fuel filter and I bet it fixes your problem. Or at least check flow and pressure as Salim suggested before going after the filter.
It seems a lot of posters go after the fuel filter for various reasons, maybe because it's the old school thing to do, but I have never heard of one problem being solved by replacing it. On the other hand it seems 9 out of 10 idle problems are solved by cleaning or replacing the IACV.
