Odometer problem. HELP!

I have a 2000 RX300 that has a broken odometer. The display is fine but the miles do not log in and I am stuck at 27209 miles. On the trip meter the miles will calculate until 0.4 miles and then reset to 0 again. Everything else electrical is fully operational.
Has anybody else had this problem or know a way to resolve it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

That really blows because of ur situation. I just checked pricing on that and the whole speedometer assembly computer and all runs 734.32$ list price.

Also if u could give me a VIN Number i could look a little further into your car and its history.

Yes it does need to be programmed.

odometer

I bought a 300 Rx one week ago with 132,000 miles on it. I have driven it about 600 miles. Odometer is now reading 140,000. I don't know what to do. It is a 2003 model.

I had a problem with my 99 where the display of mileage would freeze, and from time to time it would switch to one of the trip OD's on its own...it always racked up the correct mileage, but never seemed to work until I kept the battery charged fully with a battery tender (the car would sit for long periods of time). Since I have kept the battery charged, I have not had a problem with the speedo.

Wow these things do some wacky stuff when the bat is low.

I think the odometer gets it's signal from a sensor in the tranny, that would be my guess if it is adding up mileage too fast.
