Most likely problem is the need to replace the "watch" battery inside the key. Do you have a second key (with remote) and have you tried that one?

yep, the light is like a battery meter, replacing battery should be fine.
get a new one and replace it,

i am assuming you are able to open the door manually with the key and able to start the car, in that case it should be the remote locking system error since you have changed the battery(did you put it right??)

you might have to take it to a dealer and have them check.

comeback and tell us if you get it fixed.

I am curious about this as I have had a couple episodes of the remote keys not working, but of course the key works in the door to open the vehicle. The battery is fine and once I opened the car then the keys worked fine.

I know this is a really long shot, but it is really easy and cost nothing. I have found that the first thing I check if I have a problem with electrical or electronic on a car is the grounds. Remove and clean with a wire brush and replace, never just look at them. 2nd is MAKE SURE CONTACTS ARE CLEAN. I can't emphasize that enough, especially with electronics. There is so little actual juice (amps or volts) going through the contacts that it can be disrupted even when the contacts look pretty clean. Take things apart and use 4-0000 steel wool on the contacts to polish them and then a little shot of contact cleaner doesn't hurt. You would be surprised at how often that is all it is. With the remotes, try a pencil eraser on the contacts to clean them. Remember, they don't have to look corroded to lose contact. Probably not your problem, but good advice anyway. Does your owners manual say anything about reseting the remotes? Remove the battery cable for a few minutes and then replace? Your OM should tell you what the constantly flashing light means.
