the engine almost stalls at low RPMs when the AC is on. Its fine w/ the AC switched off. It also seems like the condenser is sucking the life out of the engine! Any ideas? thanks

 

Kosmo, we are talking about the same vehicle that you mention in the other thread .. rough idle.

It is apparent that at idle, there is not enough fuel [unlikely timing .. but cant ignore it] being injected. With the additional mechanical load of the A/C unit, more fuel is injected to compensate ... Your vehicle is not getting enough fuel to the total load at idle with A/C.

Once you have your rough idle problem solved, the A/C problem may go away too. It seems like another symptom of the same problem.

Yup, i thot a post a new thread here. I've cleaned the IACV valve as suggested in the other thread, but that didnt help.
Again, this only happens when the AC is ON. tks

 

Did you remove the IACV to clean it really well or did you just spray some cleaner through it? It really needs to be taken apart to make sure that it is completely clean and turns nice and free. You have no problem with low idle with the A/C off? It should run about 700 RPM. I see you live in Tex. what has the temp. been like lately? When it's really hot, it puts an added strain on the system (compressor) Have you tried removing the neg. battery cable for a while to let the computer reset itself? Don't laugh, but turn the lights on to drain ALL juice from the system so it's able to reset and relearn. There should be provision in the system to increase the idle to compensate for the compressor when the air is on, but I am not sure exactly how that is triggered.
