You are correct! The first symptom of a battery failure is strange or missing readouts on the display. It seems it is extremely sensitive to undervolt conditions. Replace with a good quality 48-month battery as recommended in your owner's manual.

*Ahem* COSTCO *Ahem*

1) Made by Johnsons Control
2) One of the most competitive prices in down
3) Has a built in handle
4) Slightly above average CCA

How often are you getting this symptom where somethings appear and then they later reappear?

I have an Optima battery hooked up with a hypervoltage unit and grounding wires and about 3 times within the past year this happens. One time they came on after about 5 minutes driving (about a week ago) and then way back a few months, I had to stop the car turn it off and then on again and everything was fine.

If this has been persistent rather than sporadic, the battery is the deal there.

For battery selection, if you plan to keep your RX for the long haul, an Optima is a great investment. Otherwise, what everyone says above is correct. Johnson Controls makes a very good line of different types of batteries. Usually at Costco, you can also find the Optimas but it takes some fitting to do.

First though, let me know how often these symptoms occur and does the clock ever reset itself and/or long with radio stations and seat memory functions?

I don't have missing info. on my display but my display flashes, or blinks out, which happens so irregularly that it is impossible to pin down - could this be a low voltage issue - I only noticed it in the last year or so with this original battery.

Might not be the battery, but I had issues with that OEM Lexus battery, so you may be doing some good by getting a new battery anyways.

BTW, my OEM Lexus battery said, Hecho en Mexico, and I have driven by that plant outside Monterrey where I think they are made.
