Default Silversport RX300

I am getting rid of my SC300, and though I want an LX .... my salesman is trying to move me to an RX. I told him that the only RX I would buy is the '01 SIlversport edition. Now it seems that it is hard to find for sale, or so he says. My question is .... how hard is it to swap out the woodgrain in a normal RX for the brushed alluminum in the Silversport edition? Is the brushed available at the dealership? How much would they charge for it? I would not want to stick on a replacement overtop, so I would have to go factory. I did a search and found nothing on this topic. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Default Silversport

I was looking at getting a 2001 Silversport. But the only one I could find in my area had too many miles. They are nice looking. I like to solid color paint instead of the two tone. Also it has a different grill. The have them on eBay all the time. Here is a link to a nice one on eBay.

You can have an RX painted to match and it will run between $400-$600 for the entire job professionally done. I think the Silversport grill can be had for about $200 or so.

They are not that hard to find. I'm looking for one myself, but I want AWD, low miles and a great price, which is a little more difficult to find. I bet there are 10 for sale in the SoCal/Arizona area, mostly FWD.
I may drop by and see a few to make sure the dealers know what they are talking about. Very few list them as SilverSports. You have to check the picture.

The owners may know better - the suspension change isn't anything to talk about on the SilverSport?

All these guys are saying " Sure, alluminum dash panels, new grill, new paint, you got yourself a silver sport."

I'll look if I'm bored later and find you some in Ohio.

OK, your guy was right; in Ohio, not so much. I used the zip code for Jacobs Field.

Here is a nice one in Southfield, MI Meade Lexus

Lexus of Dayton has an extra low miles certified one that's priced almost right I'd say. Is it a danger sign if a 3 y.o. car only has 18K miles? Doesn't say Silversport in this ad but it does at the dealer web site.
http://www.lexusofdayton.com

Bobby Rahal Lexus, looks good.

Just go to www.cars.com or www.autotrader.com - go to advanced search - Lexus rx300 - 2001 - silver as keyword or color. Then follow the links down until you get to the picture.

You're driving a little bit but it's much better than making your own Silversport.
(Nobody is going to back me up on the suspension, huh?)

Good luck!!!

That is the first one that I have seen anywhere near me. That one is about four hours away. I am in Columbus, OH ... 43065 area. Anyways, I might give them a call today, and check the availability. Let me know if you come across any more of them.

For me .... the number ne reason for wanting the Silversport Edition is for the brushed aluminum and the perforated leather. All the other goodies are a bonus.

To be honest .... I hate the woodgrain in most of the Lexus models.

I have run into a new problem. I have found a few Silversport RX300, but now I am torn between it and a Navi car. Basically, I don't know if I should get a Silversport or a RX300 with Navigation. Anyone have a take on this?

The dealership is also telling me .... to find a Black/Black RX with navi is near impossible. When I told them I would consider a Silver/Black .... they told me that wouldn't be much easier. Is this true?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Feels good to know my SilverSport is so desired for. Yes I totally agree the brushed aluminium finish is awesome, and so is the perforated leather. But I have driven my friend's RX and I can definitely feel the tighter suspension in the SilverSport editions. To my knowledge, this is the only model that had a non cosmetic version: coach versions are just cosmetic.

Our 01 Silver/Black Silversport is definately a far different ride than the stock RX. Even my wife could tell the difference . Ours has been sitting in the garage in favor of the GS. Only 16000 miles on it because my wife only drives it to work and back every day (about 7 miles).

Any offers?

Extended Lexus Service Warrantee till 6-25-07... Clearwater Florida ain't too far from Ohio!

I hate to be one of those guys who keeps changing his mind, but I decided .... why spend all that money on a car that only has "most" of what I want? So, today I bought a brand new RX330. I know .... not anywhere near where I was looking, but I think I made the right choice. I pick it up in about a week.

Excellent decision. The RX330 with 18" wheel & Michelin would outhandle the Silversport anyway.

Also, the resale value is so high that it makes almost no financial sense to buy a used RX.
