Default Spark Plug Change

Did my spark plug change at 60,500 miles. Below is a photo of the OEM plugs. They seem fine. Wanted to show you guys what you thought. I replaced them with iridium Denso IKBH20TT plugs. I got them at Advanced Auto Parts for only 8.99...with 20% promo I got all 8 plugs for $61.71. I suggest if you are getting close to 60k to buy these in advance. Much better that the $18 a plug that Lexus sells as rebadged Densos.

Any issues with getting out any of the plugs? I could have sworn one on the drivers side looks like a tough one to get to.

I used the link below to help me. When I had my ISF the dealer charged me $300 just for labor. After assurance from ISF guys that this was an easy-ish thing to do, I tried it and did it in 2.5 hours. It is a bit of work as you need to move some items around but I’m glad I did it. Like the write up below I invested on a 12” ext. and a swivel.

It looks super daunting at first but it’s a good time to get to know the car. My mechanical skill is around 3/10...I was only comfortable installing intakes, removing bumpers, etc. But I just took my time and it was like playing legos. 😂

Thanks for this advice. It's something I plan to tackle myself in the not too distant future.

Did you go with the cold spark plug? Some people say the car feels different after putting new spark plugs? Do you feel anything different?

I still only have 10,000 miles on mine so it will take an eternity for me to get there.

No difference. To be honest when I inspected the plugs half way through the install it looked like I could have gone much longer on them.... but I was already 5 plugs deep into it...lol. Start up was crisp and immediate like before, power is still there, my mpg on eco still reaches 25mpg easy on a long hwy run....I think I may have felt a difference if I was closer to 90k.

there are two Denso plugs for our cars...the stock OEM is the FK20HBR (long life).

What I got was the IKBH20TT (twin tip). They are supposedly improved from the OEM plug but I feel no difference. Just the money I saved from buying $18/ea at Lexus compared to $8/ea at Advanced Auto.

I am a 8/10 mechanic, sounds like I can probably tackle this myself. My main concern was the AC line, I didn't know you could just unbolt the bracket and get it out of the way. The RCF Service manual has one evacuating the AC... Crazy.

Oh for sure.... I’m a novice at best. I think you can do this in 1.5 hours if you’re experienced. I took my sweet time cuz I was nervous as hell LOL.

We discussed the TT Plug 4 years ago in the ISF forum:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...008-isf-4.html

It's a solid choice

Because I spray I change about every 5k. But normal people should change every 20k of you want optimal performance

cvt, what fuel do you use? Plugs look really clean, although they should last well over 60K miles. I changed mine out at just over 12K because I wanted to try some
colder plugs after the tune and headers install.

i only alternate between Chevron and Shell...but I’m finding that if I use Shell I get the dreaded fuel pump buzzing...still need to get the dealer to look at that but they will only resolve if they hear the buzzing. I still have until Dec 2021 for my powertrain warranty so hopefully it makes the noise so the dealer can resolve.

5k seems really aggressive. Are you spraying like 50shot?

The dealer tried that with me as well. Take cell phone video of the noise every time you hear it. I recorded it every time i heard it for two weeks, walked into the service advisor's office and handed him my phone. They fixed it.
