I just added the credit card for my 2020 RC F. It was no issue. I'm still trying to get a mechanical key cut for it.

 

Awesome! I am buying one here in a month or so. Did you get the one that we have talked about in this thread? Also your's has the F letter on the battery door right?

Does part 89904-24021 come with the key shank? I’ve been asking dealerships this and they seem to be clueless.

 

Nevermind. I got my answer. It does not.

you will need part #69515-30330 as well.

Spoke to Longo Lexus and made an appointment to get this done by next Saturday for approx $425 OTD.

$262 for the key
$87 for the shank
$75 for the programming

Blank key, for card key: 6951530350

Part numbers are the same for 2015-2020, so probably safe to assume it's the same for 21.

Hey, so I'm trying to get a card key for my 2015 RC-F but I'm a similar experience to you where I'm having dealers tell me that my car is not compatible... do you know by chance If card key 89904-24020 will work for all Lexus RC-F '15? (In US btw).

 

scroll up a few posts, I've given the correct part numbers for the RCF.

 

So that's where my confusion is, OP mentioned his car key number is 89904 - 24020 for his RC-F and in your post you mentioned 89904 - 24021, my dealer states no car key works for my RC-F, so I'm just trying to make sure I buy the one that would be compatible.

 

The original post is also a few years old. 89904-24021 supercedes the "old" 24020 part number. Your dealer sounds lazy, like they tried to search "card key" and came up short. The key is technically called "Keyless Entry Transmitter" so easy to miss if they're not looking it up correctly.

I ditto the comment that your dealer is lazy. I ordered the 89904-24020 part from a dealer in AZ (on ebay). It did not come with the mechanical key. I ordered the mechanical key as well. I took both to my local locksmith. The proximity card was easily added to my car. They choked on the laser cut of the key. The mechanical key just didn't work.

Bottom line. Talk to your local locksmiths. See if they can add the proximity card for you (for a fee I'm sure). My local lexus dealer works with a roving locksmith for all their key needs, but the service lead at my shop said, if it is genuine lexus part, he would program the car for me (again for a fee). FYI - the roving locksmith that works with dealer wouldn't do the proximity card because they couldn't get a card from any of their suppliers. He (understandably) didn't want to take any risk with a part of unknown source.

Supposedly, the RC F will allow for up to SIX proximity "keys". I know 4 work (3 fobs and a card).
