Default RCF Smart Key Card

Ran into a thread over at the RC section and some have claimed that the smart key card works on the RCF.

Part number is Lexus Part No.: 89904-24020
According to LexusPartsNow.com, it is a fit, although my dealer is stating that the RCF does not have a smart card option.

Not sure how it can't have a smart card option, basically its a card that emits the programmed RF that your particular car requires to start/open/lock.

Wonder how thin this is though? My smart card that I had on my Porsche was thin enough to put in wallet and not think about it (well I had a money clip thing, but same point).

The wireless key transmitter ECU is the same for the RC350, RC350 F Sport, and RCF. If there is an option that works with the regular RCs, it should work for the RC F. Should. Very important.

The IS F community has learned over time the credit card keys are very specific. When the GS F was released as a 2016MY car, there were no credit card keys available even though all the other GS models did. It was almost 2 years later I discovered the GS F credit card key had finally showed up and was available. So - it might work just fine. It might not. Be prepared for failure and be happy if it works.

Might want to read this thread too: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rc-...r-the-rcf.html

I stopped at the parts department at Park Place Lexus and had them look up the part number for the smart key card for the RCF and they have confirmed that it is the part number in my first post. Programming is a 1.5 hour job. Ordered yesterday through lexus parts now and as soon as it arrives, I'll report back.

If only we've seen this a couple years ago, LexusPartsNow had it for 160, then 190 and now 245... haha.

They might charge you 1.5 hours flat rate, but it takes 5 minutes. I've done it myself on both the IS F and GS F. They're spending more time and effort on paperwork than they are on registering a new key.

They're charging me $55 to reprogram the key.

What process did you use to program the key? I imagine you have Techstream from the bay? Mind sharing a link?

I have a professional subscription to TIS. The pirate versions don't do some of the things I need, and the cables are really sketchy sometimes.

Thanks. Looks like I'll just have the dealer program the key, and if that doesn't work, I'll go to the bay for the software and cable.

That's the same exact one that I have for my 2018 RCF. The dealer ordered the key portion precut for my car and programmed the key

Today dealer paired the key. Worth every penny. Only feature I lost was the ability to open windows with regular key fob.

Can’t find weight and dimension info. How thick is it and weight? So all in all including dealer program - you’re looking at $300?

Are the smart cards included with a new vehicle purchase?
