I am Lexused!
Lot's to discover as I just had an hour with the car so far. Immediately after purchase the 2016 model with 2 more years of warranty (yey), also added 3 years service contract with good discount. 80k kms major service done today 100k & 120k to come which should not be cheap.
Strangely car has Nexen tires which I have not heard of. Probably changing often tires were costly as very hot roads of Dubai simply eats the rubber even if you drive calmly.
Please let me know if there's a link for new owner's advice for RC-F are listed. Questions I have:
- is there any acceleration dara vs carbon and none
- how to launch properly?
- what is track and slalom mode differences? Slalom for mountain S roads, track for high speed track turn? What about chicanes, switch to slalom? Then will need quick access buttons on wheels for this and the wing for lowering spoiler on straights. OK, we are not driving F1 but let's get the goodies do the job
- brakes enough for teack days? Upgrade of pads?
- which tires for both track and road? Consider the heat. Had Trofeo Rs before and very satisfied with results.
- can't spend much on add ons so what are the ones which should be top of my list for not losing comfort but a bit more track focused? Probably cat delete? Intake? Springs? What is better for example on track versions of RC-F vs Carbon?
Thank you,
Tufan

Congrats. Carbon fiber/TVD model looks great. Mine is identical except the carbon fiber hood.
I cannot answer all of your questions, but a few of the things that jump out
- Get rid of the Nexen tires ASAP. Cheap brand here and never associated with reasonable performance tires. I only heard about Nexen for winter and all-season tires. Get proper performance summer tires.
- Not sure what the acceleration question is, but if you are asking acceleration difference between carbon/TVD vs LSD then there is none. Same straight line performance.
- Slalom is for tight turning scenarios where maneuverability is the most important thing. Slalom mode gives you more instantenous turning capability especially with minimal steering input. Track mode is when you are driving at the track or high speed windy roads where you can carry a lot of speed through the turn. Track mode will constantly adjust torque left and right from the rear to make the nose turn in as hard as possible.
- Brake pads are good for track days as they were great big brakes, but if you go to the track a lot and want to do time attacks etc. then upgrades brakes would be worth the investment.
- Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (XL version) if you want very good street driving qualities and great track performance. Trofeo R or Cup 2 tires are primarily track tires that are streetable.
- I assume you are asking track version vs carbon fiber/TVD then of course, the track edition is the better performer.
- Full exhaust should be the first one. It will give you great sound and some good additional performance. If you want to do suspension, do proper coil overs. Springs will only shorten the life of your dampers.
-
Appreciate the support, thank you. Some more clearance on what I mean:
- does carbon make the car faster on straights and/or track vs non Carbon with TVD and with LSD? Any review with facts? How much kg difference between non Carbon TVD and LSD?
- I also have a 2006 Maserati Gransport 4.2 V8, 400HP, about 1.7 tons with adaptive dampers (skyhook). Sport springs developed specifically for the model, rings sway bars, 6 piston front brakes transformed track performance by huge margin. Lexus is already 6 pistons in front so maybe better disks/pads will do? I'm not going to break the track record, just take the car to limits as much as possible and enjoy the V8 symphony along. What brand and versions are most suggested here for pad/disk and for bigger kit?
- I meant what does Track version have as specs different to Carbon?
- Is there a brand that still keeps car neighbor friendly when at eco or normal? And want to keep the rear tips unchanged to keep the overall design as created.Does the car need a tune change if exhaust is upgraded? It's not a turbo where you would also charge the downpipe and sometimes needs a new engine tune.
Thanks

[2018 Lexus RC F Carbon] Motor Trend 7/2018 test results [published in "Ultimate Grand Tourers" page on this issue date]:
0-30 mph = 1.6 s
0-40 mph = 2.2 s
0-50 mph = 3.2 s
0-60 mph = 4.1 s
0-70 mph = 5.3 s
0-80 mph = 6.1 s
0-90 mph = 7.3 s
0-100 mph = 8.9 s
1/4-mile = 12.5 s / 114.3 mph
Figure-8 = 22.3 s / 1.02 g
Lateral acceleration = 0.98 g
Willow Springs = 82.98 s
Correction, below for standart RC-F at Fastest laps but not clear if tvd/lsd. Seems after 60mph, carbon is faster. And maybe launch of Carbon was not as ideal during test but quite near to ideal. I saw test videos where editors had difficulty to launch as Lexus claim.
Seriously? Magazine drivers? You have to be kidding. They're so full of crap their eyes are brown.
Some day you really need to go to a track and drive instead of regurgitating reviews done by mediocre drivers. It would make your recommendations far more valuable.
Bench racing is fine, but it has no value in the real world. When the green flag drops, the BS stops.
I've been saying this for a long time with Rolla. Not to take away from his knowledge from studying numbers/watching videos, but it is 100% nothing like racing yourself, then giving advice. He has t stepped foot on not 1 track, of any kind, ever, so like you stated, the advice is somewhat hard to take. And there's no way on this Earth you can use TVD properly or to the fullest on public roads. Get to the track and you'll fi d a whole different animal in your RCF/TVD and you'll report back here that we were correct.
That is interesting. That Motor Trend magazine test was never reported here, but 12.5@114.3 mph are the best numbers posted by an RCF. I still strongly doubt, it being a carbon fiber/TVD had anything to do with the fastest straight line numbers. It might have helped the figure-8, track lap and skid pads, but the straight line numbers seem merely a function of it having better traction/launch hence the better acceleration numbers.
To answer your question, the track edition has lighter weight by about 177 lbs, a bit more aggressive suspension setup. has a negligible 5 HP bump and more downforce so in theory it should make it quicker than the other variants.
No, you don't have to tune if you put a full catback exhaust. I have an Invidia exhaust and it is perfect. Not overly loud when at low revs and screams at high rpms.
