RCF ECU Nightmare. Please Help!
- The thread was viewed over 70 times with no response before I found the solution myself. So to me, it looked like no one browsing had the solution or was interested in helping.
- While I found the solution, I still had to order multiple tools and haven't received them to get the last bolt out.
- I didn't want to further gunk up a forum I don't normally participate in with my problem, which was essentially resolved.
- After receiving the several small tools I ordered, I will happily upload a comprehensible video to youtube that explains beginning to end, unlike the ones I found.
- Perhaps RR racing, who makes good money off tuning these ECUs would make a better, public video easily found on search engines. Thoughts?
- Also, has nothing to do with the battery.
Thanks.

Admins should just lock up this thread. New user, edited post after only 4 hours thinking no one is here to help. Still didn't repost up the original issue after being asked, just a snarky reply about expecting instant answers. No valuable info here.
RR Racing tune is very reliable for the RCF. I have it on mine and have not encountered any problems. I researched 6+ years of history and not one RCF ever had any issues. I am going to guess, the OP is probably trying to extract the ECU to send it to RR Racing to tune it. That is my guess based on how I can connect the dots. If that is the case, a much better way is to do the remote tune. Just receive the cable and install the softwares on your laptop. Connect it to the OBD2 port and then download the stock tune file and send it to RR Racing. RR Racing then sends the tune file back, which using the laptop/software you upload to the car ECU. It is a lot more simpler than it sounds.

The ECU was not tuned by RR-racing. But given that they do these ECUs, it seemed reasonable to reach out to them as a previous customer for a guide. (Which I did)
I made my post bullet-pointed for people with reading comprehension issues. Let me try again:
"After receiving the several small tools I ordered, I will happily upload a comprehensible video to YouTube that explains beginning to end, unlike the ones I found."
Very selfish indeed.
Also, no one "asked for me to leave it up" or to repost, just asked why I didn't which I thoroughly explained.
My thinking was I'm not going to waste anyone's time with my problem further, or through a forum member spending time providing a solution I had found.
Not, "Oh man! I'm screwing the whole forum over by not leaving this up! Boohoo No one responded."
Looks like I ended up wasting some time anyways. Can't make everyone happy today.

When the video is made, you'll find it on Youtube.
Thanks

Not sure why anyone would call this a nightmare. It's pretty simple and straightforward. Take the top off the ECM/TCU box, disconnect all the connectors, remove the big blue harness management piece, and take the two nuts off the ECM, pull it out. No special anything needed for this job. I've done the identical thing probably 6 or 7 times on my IS F. There's only one slightly tricky part removing the big blue connector organizer on top of the TCU, and that just needs a standard 1/4" flat head screwdriver to remove.
