Default ECU issue questions

So I believe I finally found the issue with my O2 sensor codes in my car. While looking up replacement ecu's on eBay I noticed all of them are California emissions ECUs. I'm guessing the previous owner tried fixing the car by replacing the ECU and paid no attention to the number on the ECU casing.

Now to my question, how do I find out what ECU originally went into my car? Or will I be good with just any eBay ECU that is non-California emissions? Thank you in advance for any help.

If your car has an EGR temp sensor on the EGR valve, it needs the Cali emissions ecu, if not, it is likely federal. If it came from Canada, then get a Canadian ecu.

Yes it should, just make sure you have the proper ecu for your car. (Depending on the year) Like I said, I have the Cali emissions ecu in my car and it runs but not properly. If you have questions about what number ecu should be in your car. I was trying to post the website that you can check your ecu but it won't let me. Kinda defeats the point of a forum if you can't share information that will help other members.....

lol ok cool..

because mine wasnt runnig so good n check engine light was on n so forth.....

things ive replaced thus far
MAF
distributor brush
spark plugs
tps
idle control valve
both oxygen sensors (my car is non-cali spec)

car ued to throttle like crap esp from cold start ..
now car throtle WAYYY better from cold start... no more pressing gas pedal... however it still doesnt throttle properly untill fully warmed....

chekc engine light still on even though i tried clearing it....

lifted carpet to take a look at ecu...... i could readily tell that it was replaced already... no number or anything on it...

so i think my next step is to replace my ecu as well......and also all my plug wires.. lol

ecu hs been replaced following corect procedures...

however... the car def doesnt throttle properly and it like u can smell gas n oil (when ignition is turned on it seems as though i may have 1 or 2 open injectors)

another tis is when i try to get codes from the computer by connect TE1 and E1... the check engine light constantly flicks on/off

what does that mean ???

If the light flashes at a constant speed with no interruption then that means there are not codes stored and you are good to go!! If it flashes and there long pauses then there is a code stored in the ecu. Count the flashes to see what the code is. Sorry I hope that wasn't to confusing!!
