Hey everyone, I've been searching for a dealership that can sell (or order) a base RC F. I'm looking to purchase a new RC F with 0 packages or accessories. Most of the ones I see on dealer lots or on allocation sheets include the Navigation/Mark Levinson Audio Package at minimum; the most common ones I see are sporting the Navigation/Mark Levinson + Premium Package. Not to mention the ones that have individual options/accessories on top of packages.
So far, I've had little to no luck working with Southern California dealers to try and track down a base RC F. The most common response I get from dealerships is "we can let you know if we get one" and "Lexus makes what they make, we can't custom order cars." Is this true? Lexus dealerships can't place an order for a specific spec to be built?
I strongly doubt you fill one with no options on it. Never seen one that was a properly stripped out model. Even the most basic RCFs have one or two packages on them. That is why new RCFs at least have an MSRP of around $80K. You might have to special order a 2024 in order to get one exactly the way you want.
I haven't looked in a while, but I only came across base 2015 models when I was searching used. It's really weird to see a RCF without the triple beam headlights, for example.
I've seen comments previously that you can't special order cars from Lexus. Dealerships usually have to do internal trades to get the spec you want. In 2021 (the last year Lexus provided sales numbers) only 223 RCFs were sold. So there's really not much allocation out there on these cars.
If you're looking for a base model to turn it into a race car, I'd suggest just finding a good used car to save the cash and stip it down from there.

Is special ordering possible? I don’t mind the wait for a 2024 to be honest, I just want to track down the spec that I desire. I was told a dealership that special ordering isn’t something that Lexus is doing, they simply churn out the cars they do and allocate them to dealers. I find it odd that Lexus would even offer a base model on their build a car software on the website but not make any of them in the real world.

I was hoping to find a new base model and go from there. It’s weird that Lexus would let me configure a base model on the website but not actually build any in the real world. The reason I want to buy new is regarding smog regulations in California.

That is really odd that Lexus does not allow you to order one the way you configure.
If anyone has any tips/leads for doing a proper special order with a dealership in California, please send them my way. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I have seen many US RCFs in pictures/videos with the old-school HID lights even some with carbon fiber/TVD package. In the US, there is a lot more freedom to pick options., In Canada, we only got a standard model with LSD/moonroof/ML Stereo/10 spoke wheels or the CF/TVD/ML Stereo/20 spoke wheels or more recently, the track edition.
What I saw only once was a US RCF with no infotainment and cloth seats. Now that was a rare sight. I believe, that was the only base stripped out model.

They are super rare. Someone posted in the FB group a while back on a RCF that had normal projector headlights, no premium package because it had the crappier looking seat design, and pretty much had no options No navi/ML, no sunroof..etc.. I've only seen a couple like that. More than likely you won't be getting a new one to that spec especially if you are looking at 2023s. RCF is already an extremely hard car to sell WITH options, let alone someone isn't going to spend $60k+ for a car that has no options.... Lexus and a lot of manufactures are now changing the way they build cars because of the whole covid crapshoot that we went through. They know if they produce cars that are "close" to spec of what people want they will sell. Rather than taking a custom order and then building it...etc. Just doesn't make sense for them to do it that way anymore with the exceptio of LC500 bespoke editions..etc.
Yeah, it'll be impossible to find a new one, especially right now at the end of the year and there's only like 5 or 6 RC Fs in the whole US. Will the RC line even going to see a 2024 MY or is it getting canned?
Hypothetically, if I do find a dealer that can process a special order, I want to verify the lack of moonroof. On the 2023 RC F base model without the navigation/Mark Levinson, premium, or carbon package... If I individually add the tri-beam headlights as the sole option, I should get a car with no moonroof, right? I only ask because every picture I've seen of the 2023 model has a moonroof or is a moonroof delete by way of the carbon package or track edition trim. I didn't select the power moonroof option and a moonroof is not mentioned in the standard options.
Still holding out hope that an RC F can be ordered this way.
I've been shopping for an RCF like you with no options. It seems that Toyota/Lexus has changed their model of being able to custom order a spec'd vehicle to making the decisions for the dealers on what options they will get. I've custom ordered several Toyota's and a Lexus in the past and now it's a game of finding the spec I want by contacting more dealers than I care to..... I understand it from a business perspective but I don't like it from a consumer perspective.
I am cruising in my IS500 & spotted a '22 RCF outside as a CPO what a gorgeous car especially in Infrared the same as my current IS500. It is very tempting though or just keep the IS500. Also, that $$ tag is wrong on the dealer website it is listed as $68,995.00 only 3,300 miles.
