The $100K number was a mis-translation from the originalAustralian article. In Australia, a 2013 IS-F costs >$100,000 USD due to car taxes etc. The original article stated that the price of the Australian RC-F would be around the same as that of the current Australian IS-F ie around $100K USD.

Motortrend blindly copied that number not taking into account the inflated car prices in the Australian market.

Looking at the dash and console in these photos, the coupe is indeed based on the IS rather than the GS. Not really much of a surprise given the outside appearance.

so here is my rough measurement of this car. the length is about 8.75 wheels long with a wheelbase of 5.25 wheels. assuming a 19" wheel we get roughly 166" car with a 100" wheelbase. that seems way too small. so if we assume 20" wheels, we get a 175" car with a 105" wheelbase. now that looks and sounds about right.

Did you take into account rim size? Face diameter of wheels are always bigger than the stated size, usually about 1" bigger. Sizing uses rim diameter. My Prelude's 16" stock wheel has a 17&3/8" diameter face.

Just by looking at pics, I would say the wheels on the prototype RC-F are 19".

They do however look exactly like the 20" LFA Nürburgring Edition wheels..

They do. It's the first thing I noticed. But doesn't mean it's the same size. BBS is capable of making the same style wheels in different sizes ya know?

Not saying I have anything against the RC-F having stock 20"s, it's just my observation that they're probably 19"s.

That interior to me look identical to the new 14' IS. If this car will indeed start at $71K, I would want the interior not to resemble the entry level model so much...

huh? the IS-F has identical interior to the regular IS, C63 resembles a c350 inside, and an M3 resembles a 335i interior. Im pretty certain the interior will be the same as the 14 IS.

That extra 30k you pay is for the performance/name. I think if they upgraded the interior too, then you'll be in the 90k mark

I hope you are right about the US.

Australian Price for the ISF

Base price $110,895 plus $16,000 luxury tax. My ISF with the options: $135,000.

But this is not an IS. Why give this car a new name and use the IS interior? Too confusing......

that would explain things.

so if this car has 19's with a face diameter of 20", it's still smaller than the IS. even with a face diameter of 21" the car would only equal the IS. imo it doesnt look any bigger than the ISF

My prediction is 108"

Wheelbases for comparison:
2013 IS F - 107.5"
2013 Audi S5 - 108.3"
2015 RC - ?
2013 BMW M3 - 108.7"
2014 IS - 110.3"
2014 BMW 435i - 110.6"
2013 GS - 112.2"

Are the taillights for the RCF different from the 4GS?

With the 4GS, I was initially a little put off by the taillights but they grew on me eventually.

The RCF taillights look incredibly sleek, IMO. They conform with the rest of the RCF body quite seamlessly. I want to say they're slightly different from the 4GS taillights but I honestly can't tell. Whatever the case, I'm really digging the look of the RCF. The body lines are fabulous and the car overall has quite an aggressive stance.
