Default Anyone have the RR Racing Tune?

https://www.rr-racing.com/RR-Racing-...ig3xxtne02.htm

I was looking at this but was trying to find someone who has done this? Is it worth the price? and do you have to leave the unit plugged in or is it a one time thing?

Wondering if anyone would be willing to loan me the unit and tunes to try out for some cash? I know that's probably a long shot .... $700 for a tune is a bit steep though...

I can’t speak for the handheld units, mine is done on a ‘17 IS300. The tune isn’t a dongle you have to leave connected, once it’s downloaded, it’s there, nothing else to fool with. It is a proprietary program, so there’s no means of sharing it, so it’ll be hard for you try out, unless you go on a test ride with me or somebody that does have it. I gave $500 and can say that it was well worth it in every aspect. They have the dyno results to back it up as well as others have posted their results. No snake oil sales here. Again, this was on a 300 awd, so I can not speak for the 200t or 350 tunes.

Worth it IMO as well. I have an IS350. I have the tune with intake and full exhaust. Good parts and equipment and tunes are going to cost a bit of money. I suggest that if that bothers you then don't modify a Lexus or get a car that's not a premium vehicle. Not trying to be rude just stating that Lexus mods will be expensive all the way around unless you buy cheap junk them you get what you pay for.

Also these tuners and tunes are locked to your ECU and requires a specific file from RR Racing to configure it to a new vehicle at a price.

I have the RR tune on my base IS250 and it is definitely worth the cost for me. The shifts are harder at half-throttle up, and the 7200 RPM rev limit makes driving significantly more fun than stock. It’s not the same as my old 2004 RSX with 8,000 RPM rev limit, but still fun nonetheless. I can only imagine how much of a positive difference it might make in an IS350.

I want the tune sooo bad but I have the extended warranty and if something happens to the powertrain I know there going to see/blame it on the tune. I wish they couldn’t see the tune.

Exactly !
The only thing that I don't like about the tune on my IS300 2016 is that you need to drive in manual mode if you go hard on the gas cause it won't shift at 7500 rpm...
The tune was made to drive manuel mode to perform better.

Anyone know if they ever fix the transmission slip on 8 speed models with raised redline?

I'm not afraid of spending the money... I have a 95 NSX that has a LOT more in it than a few grand for performance mods... just trying to find the best route to take. I may end up with a super charger but I don't know how well that plays with emissions etc and reliability down the road as I'd like to keep this car for a while.

I wasn't aware of this issue... And yea that would be a problem. Any more details on this?

The setup I will probably start with is the RR tune with intake and ARK Grip exhaust. I want something that is not loud but gives the benefits of performance.

From what I’ve read, there is some sort of logic issue with 8 speed transmission that goes past 7k rpm. And The solution is to re flash the transmission computer TCM/TCU. There were supposed to be in the works, but I haven’t heard anything.

There is a video somewhere that demonstrates the ”slip”.

I read as it's apart of the tune and is one of the biggest parts of the power curve upgrade. From the website.

Direct Injection / Port Injection fuel mapping
Ignition control (300/350 has base ignition maps, cam timing dependent ignition maps, knock correction maps)
Variable cam maps
Torque to throttle mapping (allows us to enhance throttle response)
Rev limit increase to 7200 RPM (helps the power curve)
Raises the shift points to higher rev limits (higher shift rev points require use of paddle shifters for maximum performance)
Raises the speed limit
Our on road impressions are that the 300/350 pulls much more smoothly and linearly, with excellent midrange and top-end improvement. One of the most effective changes to the 300/350 is increasing the rev limit to 7200rpm. As you can see from the dyno results below, the 2GR-FSE v6 continues to pull all the way to the revised 7200 rpm rev limit (AWD only). This results in significantly more "area under the curve" and better acceleration times (for AWD).
