which one has better performance? watching them on youtube the OV tune looks like it has way smoother shifts and the IS seems about the same as a stock 335i and seems way quicker than the RR Racing tune

I'm not 100% sure, but the RR racing has posted dyno sheets so you can start there... OV has their rev limit at 7400 while RR racing has it at 7200. OV does have some parameters changed with the transmission for faster shifts. Currently (with RR) i have to pull the paddle at like 6900 rpm and because of the delay it will shift at 7200. I dont particularly think the shifts are that much quicker simply because the transmission isn't a dual clutch or anything... but it probably is very noticeable.

Anyway, from hearing from OV tune, I think it might be the better tune. They both raise rev limit, and both forces you to manually shift in Automatic mode when you are WOT.

OV tune Pros:
Transmission Torque output and gearbox load changes makes for less delay in shifts

RR Racing Pros:
Comes with free Carbon Fiber intake
Sweet RR Racing sticker

Maybe RR Racing will tune the TCU like OV... But I think they are more focused on the super charger kit for the car, which I look forward to.
The claims of any tuner tuning the TCU on the IS350 are complete and total BS.... completely unsubstantiated.

I challenge anyone looking at an IS350 tune to look at our extensive posts here on CL, as well as on our website, with extensive dyno testing on our own in-house AWD Dynojet, and compare that to ANY other tuner.

The tranny will start to slip on any 8sp car past 6800rpm. I guarantee you this will happen with any tune, not just ours.

How about with the SC kit does it still slip ?

And should we retune the ECU to shift at 6800rpm ?

Thanks Rafi

as in torque converter slipping? So there is no fix for this then?

Does this include the ISF tune, if so this is doing clutch damage every shift above 6800rpm, so what's the point in raising the redline and stuffing your gearbox, please explain ?????

Our Stage 1 Supercharger kit actually has a 6000 rev limit to limit power output to 366whp. Our power upgrades to the SC are achieved through raising the rev limiter and/or changing the supercharger pulley.

Yes, fix for it is to reprogram the TCU, which is separate from the ECU. The problem with that is that no OBD device can currently flash the TCU.

With the 8sp tranny, we still feel the accelerates better with a moderately higher rev limit. We have been doing this with ISF's for 2 years now with no negative consequences. The advantages are that you can still initiate manual shifts at 6800-7000, without engaging the rev limiter or the auto-upshift. It sort of gives you wiggle room to make that shift. Also, not sure if you noticed, but the stock IS350 actually shifts well below 6800 most of the time, particularly in the lower gears.

Personally i have the RR tune on my '16 RC300 AWD. It was by far the best thing i have done and made a huge difference in how the car feels. I have around 3000 accumulated miles since the tune and have had zero issues but more fun driving it
I'll be uploading the tune to my '16 RC300 today so I'm glad you're happy with your results! Do you have any other upgrades on your RC? (air intake, exhaust, etc.)
