I just picked up the K&N intake for the GS4 and I am blown away by how kick *** the sound is! Martel Bros had a good deal online w/ no shipping or tax costs...I couldn't resist.
Fused with my RMM exchaust minus resonators, I feel like I have unleashed the beast of my GS now. If you guys have exhaust and want to complete the experience, seriously consider upgrading to this intake! For $300 it is well worth every cent!
Special thanks to the CL members who urged me to pick this puppy up!
Whooohooooo!

Yeah CARB legal and sounds freakin' amazing!!
As many of you know, the aftermarket exhaust roar is subtle to non-noticeable when crusing on the freeway or at above 3000 RPM. The intake starts roaring over 3K and I swear my exhaust seems louder now too. When I am on the freeway going about 75-80 and I downshift to 4th in manual and hit the gas my car just roars and takes off. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!
Hey Bay Area folk - let's do lunch this Friday @ In-N-Out Milpitas at 12:00 noon. Does that work for anyone?

Couple of questions about this intake:
1. Looks like it's for the GS400 only, not for the GS430. Is that true?
2. Is there a measurable performance gain using this intake, or is the real advantage that it finishes the muscular V8 sound started by the exhaust? If there's a performance gain, approximately how much? Seems like without a fuel mapping ECU it can't be much...
Thanks,
Scott

2. There's a dyno graph included in the package, I think it says something like 7HP gain, so no, I didn't buy it for the gain! But yes, the sound is GGRRREEEEEEAAAAATTTT!!!

Upon initial install (having disconnected battery for the install which resets the ECU), I thought there might have been some very very slight LOSS of power in mid-range, BUT, now that I've had it in for a few weeks, the car actually feels more responsive than before. It may have taken a while for the ECU to adjust to the gulps of air it is now getting compared to before.
Either way, I would NOT buy the K&N intake as a performance mod. Save money and by a TC instead. But as an auditory mod, it's AWESOME.
I have the K&N and at higher RPM (between 3500-5500) i hear a slight whistling noise. I called K&N, who by the way was very responsive, because I thought there might have been an air leak and they told me this is normal. Have any of you experienced this??
Thanks,
Jack
