This is essentially a tuning software from OV that says "here, do it your own d@mn self"
That’s really not that uncommon. If you know what you’re doing it’s great. Many vehicle platforms have aftermarket software that allows you to tune your ECU.
If the 8AR motor was available in a “tuner” car platform you guys would of definitely seen a lot of modifications. For example the B58 that came in the 240i,340i BMW and now in the Supra. There are talks of a GR Corolla for the US market since we are not getting the GR Yaris. Hopefully they can use the 8AR motor.

it got me cautiously optimistic and wanted to build something similar since it shows that the 8ar has very good potential...the spec B is approx 360whp. Trying to make the dream a reality when there are limited options is tough

Nail on the head with this one. The motor has potential if someone is willing to drop the money on a custom setup. I think the Lexus brand hurts the aftermarket as well since they are not really known as a performance brand but more of a comfortable/reliable brand. I recently switched to BMW for the B58 platform which has massive aftermarket support. I still hope to one day see a big turbo 8AR on here though!

Likewise. The motor has a lot of potential but again lacks the interest of the performance market.
I think the GR Corolla would most likey get the 3 cylinder turbo engine from the GR Yaris.
Hi all, I finally got my OBD2 input hooked up to the JB4. I took some logs and was surprised to see the stock ecu_psi was at 5-6 psi, especially in Map 2. I tried the +4psi and +5psi map and the +4psi seemed to output more boost. Does the below look normal? The first photo is Map 1 (+4psi) and the second photo is map 2 (+5psi). Thanks for the help!
Has anyone tried the bluetooth module on their bms jb4? I want to confirm it work before i pull the trigger on the Bluetooth module
It works flawlessly, and is priceless for logging or clearing codes with your phone. The phone app is $25 or $35 if I recall, so take that into consideration. Worth every penny though for ease of logging, sharing logs and switching maps, among other features.

A picture of the module? There are plenty you can find using google image search. There is also a good video by BMS that will show how to install the module into the JB4 circuit board.

a member from Burger tuning can look over your log to ensure it’s running fine. If you’re a stock motor I would suggest staying on Map 1.
Yup I shot it over to Ando at BMS, he said everything looked good. How did you get your boost levels so high with the JB4? Even the ecu_psi seems significantly higher, which should just be the same oem tune before the JB4 tries to add boost. I saw a log of your's with around 15psi of total boost (map 5 but even the ecu_psi was 10). I noticed the Boost Safety setting on your log was 1 whereas mine is 3, not sure if that was a factor or just the additional supporting intake and exhaust mods.
Yeah engine is staying stock. I just sold a 575 hp 300Srt8 for this little GS200t and I am already enjoying modding it but keeping it limited to upping the boost and maybe water injection once it's out of warranty.
Just found out that the "new" next-gen IS 300 will continue to have the 2.0 turbo....hopefully this might mean a few more companies may start offering tunes for our cars.

Not a fan of the new re-design, it tones down that aggressive sleekness that I loved in my 3IS.
I still plan on getting the OVTune vF tuner software as soon as I can find a SoCal shop that can tune it.
Agreed i several of the reviews are saying its more of a refresh then the total overhaul, fresh body panels, the chassis have some better stiffening, C-piler is moved some and its wider, other then that is pretty much the old car. The interior has some updates but looks about the same. Nothing bad there though i like it. With them keeping the current 2.0 it will lead to more units out there with this engine so again i am hopeful that this will increase the chances of tuners creating tunes for this engine. Fingers crossed.
