Default MSD Ignition

I have asked a question about putting in an Ignition System into the car before and really didn't get any feedback. Has anyone put in an aftermarket ignition system in their car? Is the GS ignition system already at its potential? Just curious as to why no one ever talks about ignition systems. I just thought of this because I found an MSD6AL lying around in my house. Any thoughts?

does your car even use sparkplug wires??? see I don't know much about the 300 but the 400 had individual coil packs so you couldn't use an msd in it....it's like having 8 distributors all electronically fired.

MC - I spoke with a rep at Jacobs Electronics about a year ago & he said that, quite honestly, they couldn't find enough improvement when installing one of their products ( Omni Pak ) to justify targeting the Lexus market. Pretty straightforward guy! Also, SRT doesn't change the ignition system even with the demands of their forced induction systems so the stock setup must be pretty stout.

Thanks Guys for the input. That is what I was looking for. So Lexus's Ignition systems are top notch, or give enough power already? Thats good to here. I guess that is why you don't hear to much about ignition upgrades here. Thanks

MC - I just added a Ignition Solutions Plasma Booster system to my 2002 GS300 and it works wonderful. Check out the info at www.ignitionsolutions.com

Kapdori - It was very easy to install it. It took me less than a minute. It only involved three wires that just connect to the igniter's three wires. The idle is smoother. I was told that I might gain between 4-5 hp with maximum output. I have asked some of the CL member from San Diego before I bought one and they told me it work wonder. I have to agree with them now. I like it. For more info you can contact ignition solutions at www.ignitionsolutions.com

Stylin,

Thanks for the info. I think I saw a similar product like this on the speed channel. I look into this more. How is the trottle response when you installed this? Are you running TM plugs as well or just the stock plugs. Thanks.

MCgong - I have the TM plugs as well. The trottle response is excellent.

Girvan - If you're looking at the igniter from the front it's the two outside right wires and one outside from the left. Just tap into the C1, C2 and C3 wires. Ignition Solutions also send the installation kit and manual with the booster.
