Default Just ordered my K&N

I know people have mixed feelings bout these but I had to try it out. I ordered the K&N intake system.

I'll make sure to give you guys my opinion on how it works, once I get it installed!

Link to where you ordered from? I will be honest.....I cannot find a single link for the gs300 K&N CAI kit.....

And not to get into a huge debate.....but the difference between SRT and the K&N is that the srt has a better heat shield and comes
with a piggy back tune for it? Does the K&N need any tuning for it?

thanks

the SRT is better, a lot of people on here have complications with the piggy back tune. whereas with the K&N, all you have to do is just install it on your car. it comes already tuned. but there is a low RPM difference with the K&N. but in the high RPM range is where you will feel the difference. i got my K&N off of autoplicity.com for my GS400.

What I found interesting is if you look at the dyno charts provided by both SRT and K&N, the stock GS's numbers are much different from eachother, for example: The SRT has the stock GS maximum horsepower at 226.4 while the K&N has it at 240.20, but then with the intakes installed the maximum horsepower is about the same SRT records a 248.2 and K&N records a 249.54.

The same thing happens when you look at the torque lines, SRT records a much lower maximum number for the stock torque, but if you actually look at both graphs once the intakes are installed the maximum numbers are about the same.

if you would like to look at the charts yourself here are the links:
http://swiftracing.com/SRT/item.aspx?id=4
http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?prod=57-9011

I didn't know which company to believe had accurate results but in the end I went with K&N becuase they had a much more well established name, and a bigger "name" to protect.(which would scare them away from giving false numbers)

You need to look at gains. Baselines are gonna be different.
