Hello all
My girl has a 2008 IS250 AWD. Someone hit her rear bumper and bent the passenger side of the exhaust in. The insurance company is paying $800.00 to replace it. She (and I) are interested in putting an after market exhaust. Any suggestions on something that sounds good for that price???????
IMO if you can pay a little extra and get the F-Sport Exhaust. I just recently put mine on and love it. Some members on here are looking to sell there F-Sport exhaust for a great price so check the classifieds. Also you can go on youtube and listen to the different exhaust so you get an idea what it will sound like.
I'm surprised you are only getting $800 for the damaged exhaust. The factory exhaust in the axle back section is one solid piece, and even with the CL discount it sells for over $700 on Sewell. That isn't counting labor for installation. I would go after them for more money, then buy the exhaust that you want! Call your local dealer and ask them how much the exhaust will cost you. Get their estimate for replacement (including labor), then go back to the insurance company. Can't hurt to try..................
Oh sweet, Im gonna check it out now...do you know if an exhaust from a RWD IS250 would fit an AWD IS250? I appreciate your help!!!
the axle-back exhaust is the same across all ISx50 models... it's only the "full" exhausts (the ones with midpipe and further bits) that don't fit AWD.
Personally if they're cutting you an $800 check I'd spend $400 on a used Tanabe exhaust and pocket the rest, but I didn't get a Lexus to be overly loud... my last car did that way better than the IS ever could anyway
$800 does seem little for a new OEM exhaust. I would check with your local dealership and with your insurance company again on prices.
Like others have said, you can check out you tube for sound bites of various exhausts for the IS. Depending on what you are looking for and how much you are willing to spend, there are a lot of different options out there that range from Fujitsubo, F-Sport, HKS, Greddy, Tanabe, Megan, etc.
Kurtz had a great idea with just getting a used exhaust (there are a few for sale in the classifieds section and saving the rest of the money for other possible future mods for the car. Good luck.
