Question Best Spark Plugs ?

What are the best spark plugs for a 1998 GS400 with SRT/Race and Greddy CB ? Annd where is a good place to buy them ? I have seen plug kits on ebay go for $88.00 for denso iridium. Are they any good ? Any opinions welcome. Thanks

There is a reason why everyone talks about torque masters. I was sceptical about changing plugs for power until Mean Gene posted his dyno sheet. Got 'em, put 'em in, and my seat-o-the-pants dyno confirms his dyno sheet. These things are definately not snake oil, they're the real deal.

Default seat of the pants

My own seat of the pants feeling is that ANY spark plug of the correct temperature range will give absolutely stellar performance. These days spark plug "performance" is due to the amount of spark energy available, to a much greater extent, 1000 to 1, over any given spark plug technology.

Longivity, yes, performance, NO! Absolutely!

Definitely TM plugs. I've been using them for months. Can't say any bad thing about them.

Contact SupraTRD (Steve Ganz) and perhaps he could still get some more for yah.

Sorry, but you are 'absolutely' wrong, WWest. Mean Gene did a dyno on a stock GS400 with new Iridium plugs vs new Torquemasters. There are now plenty of members with the TM plugs in to give even more 'seat of pants' dyno evidence to go with the real dyno that MG did. Have you ever done a dyno to check before/after plugs to back up your definitive statement above? I didn't think so - look at the dyno link below.

Cosm,

Click here for a link to the TM dyno results, thanks to Mean Gene. Link will show you the HP and TQ gains.

The list price on the new Star Series plugs (the type you want to get) is $14.50 ea.

I believe Steve Ganz is still carrying the plugs (possibly at a CL member discount) - I'd check with him first as he might have some in stock at a good price.

IMO.. don't like TM. I seen them in person.. carefully examin the plug and pass the plug to another member... The Plug look like crap.... Letter were wrote in come kind of green permant marker.. and look like a kid wrote the thing too... we are not talking about one.. all eight that I receive look like crap...

I don't care what every one says about the performance gain.. . Not going to put something looks like crap in my V8.

-Don't be afraid of the TM's...the graphics look like crap, but they are solidly constructed. I thoroughly inspected every one before I installed and was satisfied.

Peace

Well said; I don't think I've heard anything negative from any one who bought the TMs (and put them in). They aren't elegantly packaged, but they sure work great IMO.

Shinchan - please just leave 'em out... for when I pull up next to you at a light . A serious thought though if you haven't already sold them - you've got a potential buyer right here.

For some reason the TM plugs get along REALLY well with the GS400/GS430. I haven't seen any bimmers use them, but I have had them in my '90 Grand Prix (6 cylinder) and my '96 Grand Prix. End result? Good low end power and revs better at the high end. It'll help out the 6 cylinders. Heck, I've even bolted them in a Subaru Legacy 4 banger. Result? MUCH smoother idle and a easier revving in the high end of the band. The stock champion plugs were causing the Subaru to partially stumble. "normal" according to the dealership.

Biggest skeptic is my old man. He has the GS430 (mine is the GS400) and he was complaining about his car not being as fast as mine. So, he hopped into my GS400 and took it out on the highway and other roads. End result? He bought himself a set and has never complained about them. Stock iridiums were pretty much dumped out. So who's faster? I still am due to the lightweight wheels. He has heavy 18's on his.

With the stock iridiums I've noticed that the high end revs aren't approached as easily as with the TM.

My kill list so far...
Numerous Camaro SS.
Numerous WS6.
Cadillac STS (easy)
Acura Type R (easy)
Subaru WRX (kid was RED with anger)
Mustang Cobra SVT
Modded Chevy Malibu (old '65 or before)

My "scared the hell out of them list"
BMW M3 E46. 20-50 chargeup, dead even.

My "lets see how bad I'll do" list
BMW M5.
Corvette C5.

Even though the graphics aren't pretty on the TM plugs, they work out QUITE well for me. No offense to the women on this board but sometime the prettiest woman with the awesome body doens't know a thing about cooking. Then you have the average to fair looking one that will know how to cook - and then some!

I know what you mean. The damn cover of "Tale of Two Cities" was so boring that it must be a bad read. I decided to pass as well.
